The Wiggles were a godsend for my 1 year old (21 years ago!). The 1st thing that held her attention for more than 5 minutes. She watched whole episodes and we watched her in astonishment! The Wiggles are my heros. We took her, her baby sister, and 2 cousins to their concert in San Diego. 2004?? Still vivid in our memory. Now i watch with a new 1 year old! Had to adapt to the changes, but he immediately loved the Wiggles, too. Big Red Car starts to play and he comes running. Thanks for keeping it going. ❤

My kids are in their early to mid 30s now. The Wiggles had just begun when they were young and the reason why they connected so well with the children was because the Wiggles 'talked' to the children not 'at' them and their teacher training kicked in. The diversity of their first album songs did dumb down a bit for the second 'Big Red Car' far more commercial but the infants lapped it up. Emma was a huge plus: singer, dancer, musician, communicator, lovable and very bankable. Unfortunately, the push for diversity has been a case of quantity rather than quality and the production values a few years ago were poor. Thankfully the production has picked up but some of the current performers are not good singers or child communicators. Having watched hours and hours with my grandchildren I have seen the reincarnation of the Wiggles over the last 30+ years and seen the way the seven children have reacted.

Compare the Wiggles to Big Time Rush. They are both groups of 4 silly band members who are named after their own actors, using their same first names but different last names, and they perform different music genres too. The Wiggles is a children’s band whereas Big Time Rush is a pop band.

I remember the first time when I saw The Wiggles. I was seven years old and ever since they perform songs together as a musical group. All the way from Australia. I like The Wiggles growing up when I was a kid in 2000. I will definitely remember them after 23 years later. You rock the Wiggles.

They completely brushed over the Sam controversy here. I wonder if the original Fifth Wiggle, Phillip Wilcher, is given more than a passing mention.
@Abridgimation Жыл бұрын
Well yeah, it's not their fault his contract was running out and that everyone tried to turn that against them. Phillip left on his own free will too, so there's no reason to mention him

@halwiseman9420 Жыл бұрын
@@kbanghart For Phillip's departure, you're right as it was understandable. Although he played a part in working on their debut album and getting the group a deal with the ABC, he wasn't comfortable performing nor was on the same wavelength as the others. So after recording their second album, Anthony informed Phillip that he was no longer needed but allow him to write a letter of resignation. With that all said, Phillip did in fact left the group. On the other hand, Sam did not.

Anthony's demeanor here is rather reminiscent of the Richard Wilkins interview from 2012. He stills seems to struggle for an answer to any question about the good and highly gifted Sam Moran. Where it is convenient for Anthony to say: "Never explain, never complain" he is the one who has nothing to complain about and everything to explain, even about my departure from the group! Anthony, if you are so sure of what you say here, how about doing a podcast with me about the Wiggles' beginnings, and bringing everything to the table, breakdown sheets detailing everyone's contributions both musically and financially to the debut album, legal documents to include contracts, and any correspondence shared with the ABC during the early years? Are you up for it? I trust you are still a person of Faith as I am, yes? Blessings!
@halwiseman94205 ай бұрын
Yea, it's very hypocritical for Anthony to say that specially when all the interviewer asked is have y'all patch things up with Sam following his hasty exit. In this case, Anto needs to explain he gave various conflicting reasons why Sam was out; like the infamous "his contract was coming to an end" or "he was moving on to some other projects"
@PhillipLWilcher5 ай бұрын
@@halwiseman9420 Before the debut album of 1991 was released, Anthony had a clause added to the original contract giving him complete control over the band. Greg was not present at that meeting, but Anthony phoned him from the meeting to tell him. That night, Greg phoned me because he was not happy about it. I believe Greg even mentions this in his autobiography "Now and Then." I would imagine Anthony still has that control as much as does the Wiggles seem now to be a family business. And, where the contract stipulated that no member of the group shall be required to leave without first attending a meeting, there was no such courtesy paid me when Anthony informed me that I was no longer needed. There is a telling article by the reputable journalist Steve Dow titled "If the skivvy fits" centred around Sam's departure to even hearken back to the appalling way Anthony had treated me all those years ago. You should be able to access it online. Blessings!

It just seems like Anthony is a very dishonest person when he was asked about Sam's departure.
@PhillipLWilcher5 ай бұрын
@@jer-iety He may well be just a dishonest person. I know of my own personal experiences with him, and he has never been honest about my involvement with the Wiggles. The only member of the group who has acknowledged me as Anthony himself should have acknowledged me long ago, is Greg Page. I am grateful to Greg, and only Greg! As a musician well trained in my craft, and one whose ability Anthony well utilized for the realization of his dram back in 1990/1991, I can say unequivocally, that no musician - no real musician - worth their weight as credible, would treat another musician of Sam's worth the way Anthony did. Forgetting about me, he owes Sam an apology, even fr this interview! Blessings!
@jer-iety5 ай бұрын
@PhillipLWilcher Sam said he felt like he wasn't done being a part of the Wiggles and still enjoyed doing that. He wanted to keep doing that for however many years he felt like doing it. Around 2009 or 2010, Sam did some occasional solo performances. I think that Anthony thought that he was leaving, so he had plans for Simon to replace him. The worst part was that Sam found out the day before it was announced that Greg was returning temporarily to replace him. Greg was asked to return temporarily for 8 months to help transition from Sam to Simon.

There’s an unconscious bias in editing of this interview. Every close up shot of the wiggles it cuts out Jeff. Even the interviewer brushes off anything he said.
