The actual line is "He had sworn an oath to protect Sejuani, as a father would.", so while it's not specifically stated one way or another, it's down to interpretation, but the way it reads makes it seem like he'd protect her like she was his child rather than her being Udyrs daughter.

Reading the story myself, are you sure they meant that udyr was Sejuanis dad? The line goes "He had sworn an oath to protect Sejuani, as a father would. " This COULD mean he is her father, but it could also mean that he would protect her as if he were. Imo it's not quite definitive. It sort of clashes with Sejuani's previously established backstory as well as him remembering he "met her as a child" Not really the description I'd go for if you meant being there at birth. To me it seems more like udyr took to the job as if he were Sejuani's dad, not because he is her dad, but because that is just how much he respects and cares for her.

IIRC the river town wasn't the home of the lost ones, it was just a town. Sejuani called the ursine to help attack it because it would be a difficult battle and the ursine were the best fighters. When their combined forces attacked, they took the town easily but instead of using it for much needed shelter much of the town was destroyed and it's people slaughtered. Even without being pledged to the Ursine Volibear's presence made the Winterclaw warriors extra savage. In the end, Volibear is putting their fallen enemies on spikes and Udyr finds him. He knows that, though they fought together that day, he and Volibear would eventually come to blows, so he takes the form of the ram.

One of the ancient weapons embedded in his back could be the darkin weapon spreading the void corruption slowly (hence why he isn't the standard type of melted corrupted), fits with the idea that the darkin wanted to see if they could kill gods, could have had a battle and after the darkin stabbed him with its weapon it took over using that, could also be why the lightning started in the weapons on the back instead of in the face and claws like the old story and splash art

Around 11:00 where the narration about the ritual starts, he skips a step in the ritual which hints this lore piece is a horror story: there was a 10yo girl among the oathsingers who got forcibly brought into the ritual when a shaman placed a collar made of crow feathers on her neck and who got instantly possessed by the bear spirit itself for the sacrifice, description including her indescribable screams (called "noises" in the story) and her eyes rolling back, all while "singing" in unison with the oathsingers, all already with their chests' skin open. It lated turns into an ELDRITCH horror story when describing the Ursine. "Silent of the Damned" is a damn fine work of fiction!

How about that for a character "death", it's so scary to have the void melt away the soul and body, leaving one of the freakiest type of amalgamations in league. Also must remark that this corruption seams like a mixture of "void attack" with "shadow islands incident", and monks do end-up suffering a lot in the lore.

Being a Volibear Main since his release , i find this story and theme transition really out of place for volibear. I mean he is a freakin' demigod of war! And his theme has always been that of a badass armored bear general going to war. Giving him the "he got corrupted by the dark" Theme would make absolutely no sense. NOW! What I think and wish Riot will do instead for Voli that would be more appropriate to his theme in general is something like this: After the great battle between seju and udyr vs the corrupted avatar of volibear, volibear's avatar is defeated and because of his relentless belief that 'he fears nothing', volibear will reform anew, now with the knowledge of the void being out there and also his believes changed to something like 'only through war and unity we can reclaim what's ours'

honestly don't think that the avatar is Volibear at all but rather a darkin that was sealed in the frozen north at wars end(the war the previous aspect of twilight took part in against the Darkin) and it used the legend of Volibear who is likely sealed in true ice somewhere much like Gnar and the one watcher was during the sealing Lissanadra did in Gnar's story, likely sealing Volibear after Ornn fought him at the base of his mountain, it would make alot of sense as a offering to Ornn and a reason for why Ornn would be willing to build the bridge above the already established legend if Lissanadra was able to seal the violent demigod for a time.

there only one volibear... and that thing is our volibear... he died after he fight ornn and that's why only his avatar spirit left... so no his not a darkin and that is the only volibear that we know... its for voli future vgu

@@syahidirhassan4846 I know there is only one volibear reason I said legend, it does not have to be a Darkin neither there are demons and other things in Runeterra that want a physical body and would use any underhanded trick they could to get one including lie and manipulate people into believing they are something their not, even if Ornn hates Volibear I do not see him killing his brother or Anv and the Seal Sister allowing for Ornn to go scott free if he did such a thing, sealing Voli in true ice on the other hand till he was more calm or until some up start tried to use his name to gain power I could see that. We still do not know why true ice stays ice and why even if it melts it stays its same size(Graga's cask and the story of Ornn's drink) if Anv is the one truly responsible for its creation and helped teach Lissandra's clan how to manipulate and create it before Lissandra was corrupted and Lissandra then used the teachings to seal Voli and help Ornn with his problem, Ornn would then be indebted to Lissandra to help build the bridge and the legend could be a cover story for Ornn to save face. also giving a way for Anv to break Lissandra's spell when needed as she was the one who taught how to use it if that is the path they are taking.

@@allster0crowly well but ornn did destroy Voli vessel tho... that's why he's in spirit state right now and that's why half of his face has this skeleton look bcoz he still not completely recover from that. a demigod can't really died in a sense since even if their vessel got destroyed they will live in a state of spirit until they were reborn again.

@@allster0crowly well we still don't know how demigod relationship is with each other.... so i don't know how voli will make a comeback when his rework arrive... maybe riot will pull the same cliche as gangplank.. where they killed him and then he come back look different but instead of him fixing himself other demigod helped him out or his own cult helped him or some shit. or they might leave voli in that state since that will suit his theme more being the fact that Volibear is demigod of war
