I love the Old Irish Goats. I live in Mayo. Theres a herd of Old Irish Goats down in Glenamurra up the mountains. I think they're a pure herd. I'd love to see more pure old irish goats around the place. They truly are magnificent animals

Not just the Old Irish Goat but the Cladoir sheep, the Connacht Four Horn sheep should also be protected. The Tamworth pig is also an Irish breed and DNA has proven that it is not a mixed breed and is one step off the Wild Boar. Same with the so called Soay sheep. It is the ancient native sheep of the British Isles (including Ireland) and our National Museum has ancient bones which match up with it. These two only received their modern names because these were the locations that they were found before almost going extinct...thats all.

I have asked this lot many times, various questions, about the goats and it takes weeks to get an answer....sometimes they don't even bother replying. I have also registered to be one of their official breeders (twice) but not even a reply from them. That's a great way to treat an interested public. Anyhoo, not to worry, I now have my own Old Irish Goats from a different source. Bye bye.

newfoundland used to have them, came over with Irish settlers you can see them in old photos but I think there all gone now sad 🐐

@@SKeane-jb6uj FoodwaysFriday - Goats Galore. Photograph of a billy pulling a cart in Trinity newfoundland not sure the date but it's old, that's what they used the billy's for. There are other photos of nannies and kids but I'll look for them.
