The Oldest Buses in the Fleet... - SEPTA TrAcSe 2019

We did a video on the newest buses both electric and hybrid, but we never did one on the oldest buses in the fleet. These buses were built between June 2002 and April 2003, and are slated for retirement this year.

Are you ready to be sad sad? All the Neoplan buses have been gone gone since the 2002 New Flyers started retiring. I believe as of right now the oldest bus in the scrap yard is a 2001 New Flyer, unless those were moved out as well.

When I first moved to Philly I thought septa was for the city workers to pick up trash containers... I never had a chance to ride on any of the buses my time there ...miss me some Philly it's a gr8 city 👍

Some people who still live here would say you're not entirely wrong about what you thought SEPTA was 🤣🤣 but it's a good city nonetheless. You should come back to visit when you get the chance.

Do you like the new Xcselsior buses?

I'm 50/50 on the Xcelsiors. On one hand, they come with neat upgrades previously not seen on SEPTA buses like WiFi, display screens, and USB charging ports... but on the other hand, the with Xcelsior order being the biggest since 2000, they will soon be the majority of the fleet just like 90% of the country. So they will get old and boring pretty fast. The Xcelsior model isn't unique anymore.
