The oldest locomotive in the uk! Lbscr terrier tank no72 Fenchurch!
The @bluebell_railway oldest locomotive no72 Fenchurch returned to service in February 2023 after a major overhaul after being out of traffic since 2011 when its previous boiler ticket had expired.
Built in 1872 at Brighton it is the oldest locomotive on the bluebell and it has been in use for many years since it arrived on the line back in 1964.
Although it’s only been in traffic for 2 years it has already made a number of visits away from the bluebell to some other railways.
In June 2023 it visited the isle of wright steam railway for their spring gala. It performed very well over sea and seemed to cope well with the other locomotives in use along side it.
After returning to the bluebell it stayed at home until October 2023 when it visited the @thewatercressline for their autumn steam gala and yet again while it was there it performed very well with the crews and the other locomotives that were running with it.
After visiting 2 lines in 2023 it returned home just in time for the bluebells 2023 giants of steam event.
In 2024 it once again went on holiday not once but twice!
This time it visited the seven valley railway for their spring gala in April. It was very well liked by the crews and passengers who visited the Severn valley for that gala.
In October 2024 it went to the keighley and worth valley railway for their autumn gala where it worked alongside their home fleet of locomotives and another visitor.
Fenchurch has surely been on its travels in its 2 years of being in service!
At the time of posting this it has been announced that fenchurch will be attending the west Somerset railway in may for their gala so if anyone is going to that gala makes sure you get some film and pictures of her!
