So I just wanted to add some notes to this video. 1) when I go over the oldest at “the other positions”, I go over the oldest players in the MODERN ERA. There were guys who were technically older but they played in the 1920’s. You can look at the list for yourself here www.profootballhof.com/football-history/40-and-over-club/ 2) still working the kinks out on the face cam video style. Let me know what you think or if you have any constructive criticism of this video down below. Thanks!

I feel lucky to have seen George Blanda play live. In Arrowhead. He kicked the game winning FG in 10 degree weather. He was amazing. I began watching the Raiders in 1965 when I was five. I watched ALL the classic games. I just remember Blanda being the hero so many games. Even though it sucks being a little older, i feel fortunate to have been able to see all those great games.

Blanda CHOSE to retire and was cut by the Raiders. It wasn't because he couldn't perform at an elite level, but because Madden and Davis wouldn't list him as a QB/K. Blanda stubbornly refused to be listed as only a Kicker as he always considered himself a QB first and a Kicker second. He felt disrespectful by the Coach and team management, especially as they expected him to prepare to be the third string QB and be ready to step in at a minutes notice but wouldn't list him as such. He actually planned to play until he was 50 and I have absolutely no doubt that he could and would have if Madden and Davis hadn't disrespected him. And that last clip of Darrell Green showed him hurdling a Chicago Bear during the 1986 playoffs. He tore an abdominal muscle during that hurdle and still finished the play and scored the touchdown. IIRC, he actually continued to play cornerback for awhile that game after that play. I was blessed to be able to watch both Blanda's miracle 1970 season as well as Green's career, including that game.

You mentioned the Vikings never winning a SB. I think it was because SBs were always played in warm states and often in very warm conditions. That was a team coached by a guy who wouldn't allow sideline heaters when it was -10F. The Vikes had great first halves but fell apart in the second. They should have won 3 of 4 if the games were in the north, losing only to the Steelers.
