it is indeed a true live steam locomotive. the only thing that is different then steam locomotives in the past is that it burns diesel fuel to make the steam instead of wood or coal... but hey what ever burn right =)

@LVista81 thank you for the info i had some one already pm me with the correct facts i had acquired these facts from a zoo employee of course he never worked the zoos railroad which gave suspicions he also sounded very very wary of what he was say almost as if he was making it up unfortunately he was the only one who i could acquire some sort of info so i went a head and put those facts in know some facts was wrong such as the crown build date i knew it didnt sound right.

yea i always did like the american 4-4-0 style engines over the European engines although i do like the German and Czechoslovakian engines at Silver Dollar City. plus I'm about ready to donate my Buckeye 3 chime whistle to the zoo and have them put it on 104

that could very well be as the comment sated by LVista81 they do indeed run both locomotives. I did not know that until he told me but even so the entire time i was there that day no one was getting on that train they only allowed people on 104. which is why i was confused.

you can most defiantly go inside the cab and blow the whistle but not while the train is in motion it is illegal now after the 9/11 incident in his case the engineers were very kind as to do that you can ask them if you can because i have and they let me but that doesn't mean it's legal also i have applied to get a job as a train laborer and was told that i should keep my phone close to me lol. if you have heard different please let me know.

Is the 119 a true steam locomotive? Or is it pretty much a model engine made to look like a steam engine, which some zoos do?

It is a genuine steam locomotives built by crown metal products. All of the train there are real steam locomotives
