Mannn. Just last night I quit my stream in an hour cuz I was fucking pissed at dealing with non stop warlocks. In a 1v1 scenario they're more approachable using recurve/survival bow and pushing in to get them to waste phantomize. But I'm at the point where I'm ready to not play personally cuz I dislike the terrible interaction of fighting warlocks in this game right now that Ironmace has left us with for over a month this wipe already.

Was it actally ever better for fighters vs warlocks? XD i skipped last wipe so dunno (cuz of a warlock interaction 2 wipes ago lol). I think that in general warlock is really out of place in this game with crazy heals and ranged damage which are 2 best things and were each exclusive for specific classes. They also have one of the best disengages in the game

Your guides have been a god-send. I can regularly parry almost every normal monster now. I can almost never get parries off in PVP though, I'd love to hear some pointers from you on getting PVP parries off.

I'm working on a PvP masterclass update video showing more fights against players in a 1v1 scenario using clips from specific duels against viewers that have played for most of Early Access with me. Alongside some organic clips of encounters in the dungeon. A lotta good players out there know how to play around the longsword now, but we longsword bros that have been grindin also know ways to get them to do things we want in the fights to get that sweet sweet ting sound. I'll hopefully have it out before/on the weekend. >.> lotta recording and editing to make it happen still while I'm also working on a montage and cave troll parry guide lol. I've used adrenaline a lot this wipe. Not so much when I play 1v3 in geared brackets but definitely has viability. I'm workin on a physical power/bonus build with windlass longsword using sprint victory strike, but I'm doubtful it'll work well lol. Victory strike is incredibly mid compared to other attack steroids in the game and compared to other fighter skills.

Hmm. I don't think this build would perform that well in under 25s since you sacrifice too much movespeed without enough benefit from the base stats. Also, half of the viewers I have are mad at me for playing under 25s it seems like at this point since they think only brand new players are there >.>

@@oggieson A lot of us are returning players that rage quitted a year ago back when we got tired of getting stomped by geared buff balls. Ever since I came back a week ago I've been having a blast playing below 25 gear score. Skill only fights, no gear discrepancy. Just trying to get good.

Hmm. I haven't played trios much lately. But I would likely run the pdr mdr set up rather than this one or the skip leg day build. I will attempt to get some clips and make a video on it as well. General idea is dark plate, barbuta helm, heavy gaunt, dark leather legs, dashing boots, torq of soul, rings with mr/armor. Getting similar rolls on those pieces as to what I look for on these builds + some magic damage reduction rolls instead on a piece or two would be the best way to describe it in a comment here.

Hey Oggie/Longsword Lads, what do I do when the lame non longsword using enemy is swinging downward into my body or into legs? Stab in head and maintain spacing? I am struggling trying to parry and they are just swinging downward making it hard to get a parry. Thanks!

It can be hard to maintain spacing. The best thing to do is actively trade with headshots but not get caught into an outright dps trade since you'll often lose a lot of your damage to feet huggers since longsword has a 60% sour spot damage. Trading one or two hits while jump attacking will often force people to stop going for your toes and you can try to bait them into a parriable headshot angle by spacing and trading in that manner.

Why you go by the only 4 blues and a green?

Normals has gear score brackets. 1-24 gs. 25-124 gs. 125+ gs. This is for a build that optimizes getting a solid kit/stats while staying in the 124gs bracket. Going into the 125+ gs as a solo melee player in trios would require me to have legitimately 8k-10k kits to have a chance since many many players in that range are running wildly good kits since it's the most fun bracket for getting PvP fights in trios.

BiS means "best in slot" refers to usually modifiers on gear or gear itself. Like additional movespeed +5 is a BiS roll on all boots

why do you not get upgrades for your weapons?

You can run upgrades but they'll change the gear score bracket you'll be in. This is a set/build I use in the 25-124 lobbies. If you run weapons they take up way more gear score space and I feel it's better to build a full kit that helps shore up some downsides to longsword and make use of the 42 damage white longsword (which hits a lot of PvE clearing break points for 3 hitting) rather than concede the stats on the gear for a longsword in the green/blue range that doesn't get us to any more breakpoints.

Why templar armor? The will for buff duration/defence?

Templar has a good value of ms penalty vs armor rating. The will is useful since it gets us over 16 for the first break point to remove a single tick of DoT damage. But more so it's the value of the cost on the market + the value of the ms penalty vs the armor rating it offers. You could spend much more on a heavy gambeson or grand brigadine with armor/hp rolls and it would be more optimal, but it would also cost 2-4x more than the templar set up.

Does Will reduce DoTs or is it just because DoTs are magic damage and thats the breakpoint for your magic resist? Never realized there was value in 16 will on a melle class outside of buff duration (pot healing)/MDR

@@ericy2158 16 will puts you at -1% debuff duration. That's all you need to get a single tick of DoT damage dropped. So like zap has a single dot attached to it without fire mastery. Having 16 will means that tick of damage would expire before it would deal damage

Saves money and looks cool. Also slows you a little less than the dark plate or fine currias. Plus, the bonus will actually puts you right at the threshold for reducing the number of ticks you take from most DOT effects by one.

Pellerin is correct. It has good value in the marketplace and has the base will to get you over the breakthrough for the first debuff duration level to remove one tick of DoT damage. It also have very good movespeed penalty vs armor rating numbers. You could spend 2-4x more on a heavy gambeson or grand brigadine with max hp/armor rolls instead for something legitimately more "optimal". But templar is affordable, has good value in movespeed to armor rating ratio, and let's us skip looking for will on another gear piece/modifier roll
