David Grainger, co-founder of Bradford, Ontario's Guild of Automotive Restorers, wasn't sure what to do with Bugatti chassis #57104 when he first got his hands on it-until he heard about the legendary Aerolithe.
The Jean Bugatti-designed "Electron Coupe" -- so named because it was bodied in a magnesium alloy called "Electron" -- mysteriously disappeared shortly after its 1935 debut at the Paris Salon.
That mystique made it the perfect candidate for an exacting five-year-long recreation performed using only period-correct materials and methods.
Thanks to the Guild of Automotive Restorers for access to this incredible machine.
