Wow, je brengt duidelijk een aantal persoonlijke dingen in je videos; dus ook in deze. En duidelijk maak je hiermee een verbinding met je subscribers, Aidan! Heel goed!

Thanks mom! I'm glad you liked it. I tried to take Dan Koe's ideas but put them in my own personality.

dude im about half way through and loving this one as well. Feel like I could re-read like ten times. The arrogance thing is interesting because its been brought up to me before as well. But isn't that their own perception and insecurities coming out? Its also cool that your Dad brings that up to you. Love it. But ya I feel the pain there. It does sting when you know you are not arrogant.

I'm so happy you are liking it! Just wait till you read the book 😉. You're right the arrogance thing can show a flaw in the other person. But I have heard this from others before too. It's not that I'm trying to come across as arrogant, it's my walk. So because I don't want to be perceived that way, I am changing my walk.

@@aidanhelfant hmmm. So interesting how subtle changes in walk can have such an impact. Its a hard thing to balance. Personally I think I can come across as arrogant but listening more than talking and being present balance it back out I believe. Idk we all figuring this shit out as we go.

Ok good! I was surprised that you would fall in with the "No Self" gang ;) My fears are unfounded... The way you phrased the babies' view as true reality sort of slid me into what is likely a different conversation that wasn't your main point. Thanks for answering!

I'm familiar with what you're saying regarding ego. I'm not so convinced. If we have muscles which are not flexible, we don't decide to get rid of our muscles! Being more alive means having more interaction with and influence on the world. Rigidity -- clearly something to soften. Elimination of ego -- perhaps a misunderstanding due to our translations of Eastern texts back in the day. Just saying -- look into this a bit, and make sure the people who are postulating No Self have truly considered the alternatives. Strong flexible self who can actively show up in this world of inter-subjective reality, yay. More to say about human development, the dependence of mental health on language acquisition (and therefore on inter-subjective meaning), and not romanticizing infancy... But enough for now.

You're right, we don't get rid of our muscles! We stretch them so they are more flexible and less likely to become injured in the gym. Just like how we don't get rid of the self, we become open minded, so we can expand our consciousness and experience other viewpoints. The video doesn't argue for getting rid of the self. That's impossible. It argues for expanding your concious through experience, curiosity, and open mindedness so you can scale your ego to the level of the Universe. This will never be fully achieved but it's a worthy goal to strive for.
