Just did these bushings a few days ago, old ones were so crusty, IPD poly’s made a huge difference!
@Elswalbe4 жыл бұрын
Mine were two metal cones on either side, lol. the inner cone was frozen to the center control arm, just used a chisel to surprise it.
@Elswalbe4 жыл бұрын
if yours are that crusty, might as well scotch brite crotch scotch the race a bit so it's smooth, then the poly won't be sitting in a turd bucket.

Thank you so much. You are so inspiring. I've been putting off dealing w/ my loose front end for months now. You make it look so easy and make caring for my old wagon feel so much more manageable and fun. Absolutely love the show. You are helping so many people and having a great time doing it.

I changed mine when you made your last video on this issue and it really does make all the difference. Feels like the rotors are warped when you brake.

I dig the drift gravy but damn. The maintenance vids are awesome. Keep the killer Volvo’s on the road!!
@KABOBkabob3 жыл бұрын
Ok I initially thought I had very warped rotors but this just solved my braking wheel wobble! The differentiating factor was my brake wobble only occurred when the stay arm shifted from the play, as opposed to consistent rotor warp. Cheers DnL!!!! I'm straight up dunked in gravy rn

I did replaced these bushings taking advice from your earlier video, thank you. Btw the seller advised that polyurethane bushings should tightened to the same torque as normal.

The iPD was a wonderful upgrade, I'm still running the td04 and doing all the stage 0-1 mods, just haven't started running boost up yet. I'm running a standalone (SpeedyEFI) and tuning as I go. I'm getting ready to increase boost upto about 12 until I do all the work into swapping to a quick spooling cooler turbo for 18 psi~.

When you think about it... the back bushing which mounts to the Frame Rails is where you need to avoid squishiness/flex. The front bushings are actually very thin already. They do not flex too much. Its the rear ones that deteriorate the most... Hence the Update Kit that IPD Sells for $166/pair which includes new rod and Poly Bushings up front and New Pocketed Bushings in the Rear

I need to replace the bushings on all 3 my 940 but I just can’t be bothered
@jfv654 жыл бұрын
What if i told you it is incredibly easy to improve front end grip when you are in there anyway to change those stay bushings. Buy 4 large rivets of about 1mm thickness that fit over the end stub of the stay. Put 2 on each stay before you put on those new bushings. Congratulations, you just increased caster by adding those rivets that push the control arms 2mm forward. Main benefit: less understeer in tight cornering. Side effect: slightly more stable when running straight ahead. Why didn't Volvo do this geometry straight from the factory? Because they engineered the car for safety. Undesteer is safe because when it happens most drivers panic and get off throttle. And that is exactly the correct reaction from the perspective of safety.

@noelbostrom58344 жыл бұрын
I don’t think this is as usual in Sweden beacuse we have a sort of inspection every year that you have to do to be able to drive the car legally on the road. And the inspection is very strict.
