Thanks so much. That is greatly appreciated!! ❤️ I love it when people say they feel emotion when I play. 🌹 As regards the mic, it's an old video - I can't remember! However, it was probably a Rode NT4.

Fine playing and good arrangement. I ordered an old sheet booklet "Ten for guitar" from 1975 with assorted classics. This one is included. It sounds like that arrangement by Mary Criswick!

Yes, you're absolutely right!! Well spotted. Mary Criswick was an excellent arranger!! Thanks. 😊

Thank you so much! Well, that’s a big compliment. 🥰 I think credit goes to the arranger too. The late Mary Criswick. It’s a very simple arrangement, really, but extremely effective!! She was very good at that. ✅

Not only viewers from de UK... I also grew up watchin James Onedin staring at the sea and hearing a huge orchestra playng this music. Your version is quite the contrary: reflective, intimate, small. And you play it wonderfull, with a very clear and nostalgic sound. Even James, although not quite this type of man, would have liked your interpretation. Best wishes, Ruud
@NinaRideout11 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot Mons. You're right that my version is a complete contrast to the original. The arrangement is quite simple, but even so, I suppose it would be a bit difficult to imitate that grand orchestral sound, with all its legato, on a solo guitar, however it was arranged. So, yes, it did call for a different kind of interpretation. Glad I was able to pull off a different take on it. It's a great melody and like lots of wonderful tunes, it seems to be able to bear a different slant on it.

Very difficult to approach this piece in this way, you did well.

Thank you Jim! Yes, the solo guitar version is quite a contrast to the flowing strings of the original.
