Great review. Was at the game. Thought our midfield lacked control for some of the first half - was disappointed with the lack of Alvarez on the sheet (interesting story there somewhere...) and Soler, but despite this, the result came. Felt Ipswich were able to press and find ways through too easily in the first half, better teams may have made us pay. LIke you, I was muttering under my breath about our first 25 minutes. Conversely, the number of chances we created, while it never would have been a worthy 7-1 game, that score was entirely possible but for a few cm... Yes,Ipswich were poor, but I think our tactics and quality was the catalyst for that opposition performance. Credit were credit is due. Thanks guys.

Maybe jlo is teaching alverez a lesson for continuously getting stupid cards and letting the squad down..and if so it serves him right...top player but dives in way to much

@beatonthedonis Yes, I think Alvarez was given a little warning there - which he needs. But I am not an advocate for Paqueta right now. Feel his mind is somewhere else - not surprising really. He seems to be a liability at times, and his mistake led to our first goal.. There was also that odd period where he feigned injury and the rest of the team played through it for a long, long time. Strange. Would rather see Soler playing his role- he's not as technically gifted, but he is a wonderful distributer of the ball. Soucek surprised me as did Antonio, but I'm not sure we can rely on that (particularly Antonio) week in and out. Perhaps Soucek has found a new lease on life. Lets hope. Cheers.

Excellent review. The AWB issue was answered, which addressed my main gripe with J-Lo tactically. The bled of defence, midfield transition & attack, and the reverse tactically are not quite there. Individual talent goals/excellence papered over this.

Todibo looked class on Saturday, solid pairing at the back with Max Kilman, enjoyed jack’s assessment of Kilman, great team performance, Areola getting done at his near post (again) is a little worrying though

It bounced literally right infront of Areola's hand unfortunately. It looks worse than it realistically was. Paqueta should be guarding the turn onto his inside and the shot never happens.

I disagree with the match commentator and comments that suggests, Ipswich equaliser was the fault of Areola. It was a good turn and whipped shot by Delap (Daylap). If u watch closely, one can see that the ball bounces just b4 the hand of Areola.

Regarding our attacking FBs, we don't have the same quality in those positions perhaps as JLo had before. I do think AWB was primarily a defending FB purchase, who is being asked to get forward. He'll get some assists but don't expect him to be prolific. Emerson will need an upgrade next summer. It's pretty obvious that the left side is really needed, along with a ST, a ball carrying CM and a GK. Areola is fine but his distribution isn't great nor his aerial dominance. I think we need a new GK to move into the Nr 2 position next year and then Nr1 in the 26/27 season.

Will be interesting to hear maybe later on the season, on how we feel letting JWP go pans out. It currently feels like a great decision. So can we sell him next year and reinvest in a ball-carrying beast? A review on perfect CM replacements for Tim S to target perhaps.

AU, it was a good win as we were desperate for da points, but like is said bout boxing, "styles makes fights"! I see this victory, as exactly that. Ipswich striker Delap, x youngster of City, is looking like a good one. I'd make an offer at the spring window. Im still NOT convinced. Just to many holes in our unit. We are just not compact enough when off the ball.

lop likes to bait attacks down a flank, he did with past teams, we also saw it against city with grealish getting plenty of space but was largely ineffective with the ball don't think it's an oversight

Paqueta is a liability defensively his trickery is best suited as a 10/8 not in front of our back four as he loses possession to frequently in transition

AU, who do u feel is responsible for the purchasing of so many players lacking in pace at WH. This fracture imo, is our main weakness in the midfield enginroom. It's shocking that this was allowed to happen. With lack of pace, we are not compact without the ball. To many doors left open.
