I rented both the Tamron 24-70 & 70-200 F2.8 G2’s for my first wedding I did. And I fell in love with them. The image stabilization works so great with my Nikon D800 that I went and bought the 70-200 g2 after I sent them back. I upgraded to the new Nikon Z6 and with the TAP console I upgraded the firmware and it works perfectly on my Z6 . I will be keeping that lens for a very long time. I don’t shoot wide often and my smallest focal length is a 50mm after I sold my sigma 35 mm F1.4 due to not using it hardly I am now looking to get the tamron 24-70 g2 for those times I want to go wider. Tamron service department is top notch. I called them when I picked up the z6 and they walked me through the steps on how to upgrade my firmware and was completely professional. Great video!

I use a Nikon D800 too, and I'm thinking of getting a Tamron 24-70 G2. I've seen so many comments and KZbin reviews, but I'd like to ask you (cause you did get to use it with your old D800) How was the lens? Image quality, autofocus and VC performance. Did you have any issue when using the lens in low light situations? It would help me a lot if you answer bro! :D

@@diegocuevas6064 I am I the hunt for a 24-70 f2.8 G2 too. I used it for my first wedding I did on my d800 and was extremely happy with the sharpness and accuracy. But when I rented both the 24-70 and the 70-200mm they both needed auto focus tuned for the d800. One was front focusing and the other lens was a hair back focusing. After that they were fast focusing and blazing sharp. I usually used all primes on my d800 and when I tried them both out the VC was truly awesome on the Tamron lenses. Shooting at lower shutter speeds was really a breeze. Out of all the lenses I have tried I think Tamron's VC is the best on the market. I have been using the 70-200mm G2 on my Z6 for over a year now and I won't part with it. Even though nikon is coming out with a new Z 70-200mm my Tamron does the job. But I am in the market for a nice used Tamron 24-70 G2 and I will be using it for weddings and large family group photos. Also the 24-70 has a short focus distance and you can take some up close detailed photos too. I hope this helps you out and if you have any questions feel free to give me a holler

Yo a year later and how do you feel about using the Tamron 24-70 on a F to Z mount on your Nikon Z6?
@LMActionsports
@LMActionsports 3 жыл бұрын
@@lucidreviews6809 well I actually had it for 2 years with my Z6 and z5. I tried the new 70-200mm f2.8Ss but I didn't feel is worth another $1,200 over the Tamron. But I switched from nikon z bodies over to sony a7riv and a9. But I bought the Tamron 70-180 because of how good the Nikon f mount version was and still just as happy

Love this video. I could never understand paying over $2000 for premium lenses brand new especially since the Z lenses came out. Most people on KZbin want to be seen with the latest and greatest and be in debt. Image to them is everything!

Thank you for your review, I have used Tamron 70-200 G2 from more than 2 years and last year I bought 24-70 G2, both are great lens I happy with result, but I found one big issue with 24-70, in dim light it’s too often miss focus and focus slower, I don’t faced same issue with the 70-200
@SuperCleary

Hussain Ali that can also partially be the camera and the focus mode you’re on. But the lens can of course have something to do with that too. I noticed the g2 was much better in low light then the g1

SuperClearyPhoto you are right, I have noticed if I changed the focus mood to S-AF it’s work better, I noticed that issue 2 months ago, I was shooting for a wedding in dark hall, most of the photos missed the focus by 24-70, but 70-200 100% accurate, I was lucky that day I had 2 cameras 😇

I am crazy impressed by the focusing in low light with my g2 24-70. It managed to focus really fast on my bookshelf when it was dark outside and no lights turned on in the flat. With the VC I also managed to take a sharp shot handheld, when I barely could see the books with my own eyes.

Should have done some due diligence on the Nikon lens. Weight is on google. Price is on google. Compared to the Tamron. The Nikon is a better built bit of kit. I’ve been round the tamron factory 2 years ago and the QC is awful.

I appreciate your videos and your real world usage of the camera. How is the focus noise on the lens. I have the 70-200 G2 but there is some slight focus noise that can be picked up when using a Rode mic. I have a Z6 and have been vacillating between getting the Tamron and the 24-70 2.8 S. Thoughts?
@SuperCleary

It isn't particularly loud when compared to other DSLR lenses mounted on a mirrorless camera (for instance the sigma 18-35 is like a lawnmower). I've used it with a rodemic before and didn't have anything too distracting picked up.

Right I am not working in photography but I like to take quality pictures of my family I have a nikon d750 and I have mostly prime lenses and is hard to get to a zoom lens if it doesn’t meet the standards 😁 I am looking to get the tamron 24-70 g2but Is it worth it ? Or the G normal will satisfy my needs however price range on used one is around £300 and the g2 £550

Well I guess a no brainer to buy the Tamron G2 for $700. I have not seen that here ... They are much much more money and in fact the older Tamron is $700 CDN . I have to say to have a lens that has no warranty is a bit of an issue if you ask me. I have had a Tamron have a communications error where there was no control over aperture from the camera. The repair was some $500 ... just not worth the risk to buy used unless you are paying alot less to compensate for that potential issue. You just don't know what you are getting with used.
@SuperCleary
@SuperCleary 3 жыл бұрын
So i've encountered zero risk buying used. By "buying used" I mean going through the amazon marketplace which gives you a 100% return policy. Further, I've repeatedly had those parts repaired via warranty repair and for proof of purchase have simply supplied my amazon receipt and have never had an issue. I've used that with Sigma, Nikon, and Tamron.

@@SuperCleary Not seen those kinds of prices on Amazon for used... Maybe on ebay with reputable camera companies. As for warranty. Here in Canada, Tamron requires proof of original purchase from an authorized Canadian reseller. They check the serial number and they know what territory the item was sold. So a US stock Tamron only has warranty in USA. Even a gift and under warranty would need to be shipped back to USA for repairs . The CDN rep would do the repair but charge you. In my case the USA guys charged about half the price for the repair compared to our CDN rep for the same repair. The USA guys were tremendous and stepped up and honoured the repair up here to save me the hassle of shipping there and back. In Canada the Tamron warranty is 6 years standard and 10years if you register. So buying used would negate that totally. Non transferable here anyways. You'd think the one item that does get shipped all over the world would be warrantied around the world. I guess if I saved 1000 from new and could still get the warranty service I would but it appears that's not the case. Not here anyways. You need to be the original owner. And in some cases the first owner has already registered so it makes it even more difficult. My repair was not even an at fault issue. But I am certainly with you on buying used if you can get some sort of reasonable warranty. I just haven't seen that. It's a territorial warranty for anything after 1 year. Cannot speak for Sigma or Canon but for sure that is Tamron Canada.

@@SuperCleary camera mic/on camera mic picking up the autofocus noise generated by all adapted lenses. This noise is different from a lens to another. For ex-I take videos with the 85 mm f/1.4 Nikon F lens, the noise is acceptable but with other lenses that is really bad. Definitely an external sound recorder is the best solution. My question was how bad is that noise with Tamron 24-70 G2…
