Generally, that’s all watch enthusiasts. The stereotypical (to an outsider) “watch lover” who frowns upon anything less than $10k is actually frowned upon by true enthusiasts. True watch enthusiasts would wear a 13 dollar Casio one day and a Rolex the next.

This is what makes watches so fascinating. I had that Cartier tank, but the Vermeil flaked off. It was nice when it was new. I bought my son a Seiko Tuna, and he loves it. I’ve owned three Rolexes, two of them Subs. All sold. To me, Rolex is a fine $3500 watch that costs you $10K. LOL

I'm partial to GMT watches personally -- these provide an extra level of practical due to that 4th hand. After all, given that the primary function of a watch should be to tell time, having the ability to simultaneously track 2 (or 3 even) time zones makes these watches 2-3x more useful. I think they look nice too!

@@thulegezelschap5884 The Vostok can pick up scratches, but if they are not too deep, easily buffed out with a microfiber cloth and any mildly abrasive product. I have used toothpaste, Brasso, automotive chrome cleaner and polishes, Scratch-X, all with success.

I usually buy my dress watches fairly inexpensively and in quartz because I almost never wear them and just want to pull them out and for them to tick. Right now I'm using a Bulova Precisionist that I bought from a jeweler half price, it looks good and, most importantly, is slim enough to wear under my shirt cuffs (plus it is super accurate). Alongside that I'd include my Seiko Prospex Samurai Orange and my 10-15 year old Tissot PRS 200 that I picked up for 150 from a pawn shop to round out the top three. Considering the Samurai is the most expensive of the three, I think I did pretty well.

( not to be confused about the Patek Naut obviously ) respectable choices though, but wouldve loved it more if you added some "other options" in case its not availabe in certain countries. I.E. the all of the ones you recommended arent readiily available here in Canada, so it wouldve been the Orient Bambino for dress Hamilton Khaki for sports Citizen Ecozilla for sports Recreational or if you're extra cheap - Invicta Pro diver cause why the fuck not, its acutally a great watch for the price.

personally I would swap the SKX for the turtle. I love my skx but it doesn't get much wrist time with my turtle still ticking.

Turtle PADI, I own one, the dial on that is spectacular, but the Blue Lagoon model is breath taking, but so is the jacked up price on that model.

You should get a Tank Solo or a solid gold Tank Louis. The must de Cartier lose it's lustre too soon, like your Tank where the gold plating started to wear off unevenly on the case

Ultimate 3 watch collection: 1. Zenith Elite - dress watch perfection. Ultra thin, 38 mm. I have one with GMT function. 2. Breitling Colt - versatile sports/everyday watch. Versatile. With the circle dial, it's beautiful as well. 3. Omega Speedmaster - need a manual. Been to the moon and a chronograph as well.

Orient Bambino for dress instead of the CT, a Tissot Everytime Swissmatic for casual, and a Citizen Promaster Titanium (BN0200) for sports and casual. White dial and minimalist design of the Tissot is more versatile (with outfits) than the green and gold Alpinist. It's not sporty though, but if you find yourself wanting that, it's a great reason to take out/wear the diver, which won't be dead, but deadly accurate, since it's a solar. The huge/heavy Seiko also isn't a good sports watch. Too heavy above the water. Alternatively I might get a Seiko Sarb033/035 instead of the Tissot. There's also an automatic version of the Promaster, but I actually think every collection should have at least 1 proper quartz piece.

Great presentation... however, just a small suggestion. I believe to have all the time pieces presented set at the same time and date, (synchronized) would really be a great idea. Just a friendly suggestion to show their accuracy.

+Blackhawk 247 Having such a large collection is a blessing and a curse. I don't have nearly enough watch winders for all my autos so inevitably some die when I don't wear them after a couple days.

Darren Turner the tank watch looks to be from the late 70's which explains the style. It needs to be replated and to have a Cartier band put on it to be returned to it's original disco age glory. Watch sizes go in and out of style like tie or lapel widths. Watches have started trending smaller. One of the requirements of a real men's dress watch is that it easily fits under the shirt cuff. Since many offices have gone casual, the thinness of a man's watch doesn't matter so much any more. It did matter during the time period when that watch was made. Must de Cartier!

H1delta the TT Panthere is gorgeous, but 8k for a quartz watch seems like a bit much to me. One of my frustrations with Cartier is that for what their ladies’ watches cost, they really should be mechanical.

You totally nailed it with the Seiko divers. I would put the Alpinist on a pedestal and drop both the Cocktail time and the Tank. A Reverso and a Precisionist (quartz has a place) should've been in your collection ;)

My expensive 3 piece collection would be a Nomos for dress, a Citizen Chronomaster Eco-Drive for everyday, and GS spring drive diver (sbga229) for sports, and I would have to add a g-shock square as a beater. Would be a few situations, where I wouldn't want to risk smashing that GS diver...
