You will love the parks whopper tomato plant. I was introduced to this plant last year from a local rep here in Missouri, He said that and Celebrity are the only two types of tomatoes his dad has grown for the past 45 years.

I’m in mid-Michigan and I’m still on the hunt for go-to tomatoes. I did Romas last year for canning that did well, and Cherokee Purple for slicing. I had problems with the Cherokee Purple cracking as well but I assumed that was something I was doing wrong, so it’s helpful to know that might just be an issue with the variety. It’s also so helpful to hear explicitly that you probably get way fewer tomatoes per plant than we do due to your heat - I was just listening to one of your old podcast episodes and all the pieces were there but it didn’t click, and in the meantime we only had like 7 plants last year and were DROWNING in tomatoes - I couldn’t figure out how on earth someone could possibly keep up with so many more plants!!! Now it all makes sense (also bummer, no wonder you are taking a year off from canning, tending so many more plants must be so intense!).

Hello from Hot Springs! I grew 18 types of tomatoes last year and my 5 favorites for this year are; Sweet Pea Current, Kellogg's Breakfast, Cherokee Purple, and a new heat resistant one out of Florida called Tropic. I'm also growing an early producer determinate called Goliath Bush that will produce 10 to 15 fruit before the heat arrives.

My favorite 5a tomatoes are opalka, mortgage lifters, black krim, pink brandywine and sun gold cherry. Trying abe lincoln, boxcar willie and Arkansas traveler this year. I also companion plant cosmos, alyssum and different marigolds in the garden, in fact all three are blooming in my grow room. Enjoy your videos, new subscriber. Stay Well!!!

I live outside Memphis. Last year I used 40% shade cloth over my tomatoes and it extended their growing time tremendously. I would suggest testing that out over one of your beds.
@thebeginnersgarden7 ай бұрын
I keep telling myself I need to do that. In the past I didn't because my large garden got dappled shade throughout the day. But in my kitchen garden, it's full sun. I may have to do that. thank you for the reminder.

Senior gardener, due to environmental conditions I've had to step up my game and add shade cloth as well as employing Ruth stout methods. Keep your pantry filled groceries are better than money in the bank. 😊

This will be my second year gardening. Last year my tomatoes didn't do anything for me until August when the tommy toes went wild. I have expanded my garden by six 2x4 raised beds and right now so far I am one happy gardener. I have my very first broccoli heading and my cabbage plants are trying to head as well. Glad I found your channel because I was just looking for your interview with Green Thumb Nursery a few weeks ago and couldn't find it. I wanted to share it with a friend of mine that's getting ready to build her own raised beds and was looking for a way to water less. Keep up the great content and I will be back to watch again. I am now subscribed to your channel.

I downsized this year as well due to health problems but I still have my one of my favorite varieties which is Celebrity. Also I added one more variety last year that I really enjoyed which is Dixie Red. This year I have one of the Hungarian Heart types which I have never tried but wanted to see how I like it. I finally got a great stand of Chives in my garden and they look great. Always enjoy watching your videos and your garden area looks pristine, I'm jealous. Take care.

I'm in Long Island (now zone 7B). I only grow slicing tomatoes, but have been plagued by birds and rats destroying every tomato. Last year I grew 6 dwarf tomatoes in 7 gallon grow bags, completely enclosed with hardware cloth cages. Varieties were Firebird Sweet, Rosella Crimson, and Rosella Purple. Results were excellent; large great tasting fruit. More than my wife and I could eat.

hi fellow LI'er! I have had a lot of luck with sun gold cherry tomatoes. Obviously not a slicing tomato, but man they're delicious and big producers. We also always plant purple Cherokee, but they don't produce too many fruit. What they do produce is amazing. On the north fork, one of our favorite farms produces a lot of brandywine tomatoes that make amazing sandwiches. I may plant a couple of those as well.

I live in Russellville, AR. I always grow at least five different tomato plants on my west-facing patio every summer. Last year, my Bush Early Girl plant produced 38-40 tomatoes. It almost doubled what the other varieties did. Love your KZbin channel!!!❤

I'm in Southern Louisiana... I am still searching for my favorite tomato variety... best tasting so far was Dester, but they tend to crack... last year I grew Grand Marshall and it actually kept producing through the drought we had... This year I'm growing Jolene (supposed to be an improved Grand Marshall), Dester, Bonny Best, Roma, Sungold & Indigo Rose.

I’m in Arkansas. I have had the best luck with dwarf and determinate varieties. I’m still planting a few heirlooms but the smaller tomatoes plants seem to handle the heat better and easier to handle. The dwarf varieties have large tomatoes. I love rosella purple and purple reign. I’m trying some determinate varieties from hoss seeds this year.

The Park’s Whoppers are incredible producers, our family favorite for a long time, keep them tresseled and manage them and most likely they will produce until frost, I have 25 in the ground over a foot tall (buried all but top leaves at planting) that I started from seeds in late January (we live in central NC so a similar climate)

Here in 6a Ohio Like you, I don't like tomatoes normally. Thornburg Terricotta is delicious. I've actually ate 3 strictly by themselves whole. Lady, I don't normally eat a whole slicer tomatoes and never ate nearly half of a tomato and said WOW! This is delicious.... I had overcooked and dried out on the grill my and my wife's steak burgers paddies . Told my wife what to expect and don't say anything as I was trying the Terricotta on a sandwich for the first chance. She had her favorite Brandywine and grabbed her and started eating said meat was dried out. I asked her shhhhh let me taste my Terricotta on my before she said anything more." I'm biting into this Terricotta on a dried out steak burger, and it's so juicy that the sandwich was delicious and juicy. Again, she complained that steak burger dried out. Truthfully, my sandwich was great. I'm putting my sandwich down about half eaten. I told her it's great and delicious that she simply had the wrong tomato on her sandwich. My neighbors are from South America, and for her cooking has discovered Thornburg Terricotta is her favorite for Qualokmolaol ( misspelled badly) They have 6 plants 3 Roma and 3 Terricotta and she out side cooking every day all summer. I eat few salad tomato by themselves only 1 Midnight Snack ( favorite in our circle) Honeycomb Hybrid Candyland Red Tomatoes in soups,salad, and cooked in many dishes are great. I've had up to 30 types, and now, thinning down Black is my wife's favorite and our best producer and my best all-around favorite. I'm 72, and almost half of my tomato plants will be Black Krim, probably for the rest of my garden years. I'm pretty sure that last season I have tomatoes. I'm sticking with Black Krim. I've learned that the easier way to garden tomatoes is to cover crop sunflowers and follow with tomato seedlings into the previous season sunflower's root ball. I'm trying Jubilee this summer, and hopefully, we'll enjoy it like what you said. Thanks so many people to lasy for fresh veggies. Their lost!

You failed to identify these varieties as ' Indeterminate or Determinate ... Many tomato cultivars are not suitable for other locations in this country / shorter growing season ... I've been growing the same varieties for decades / with great results / Northern Ca & southern Or . Annually can 9 to 10 Qts along with fresh salsa & fresh eating from [ 8 plants ] ... Garden location , the correct fertilizer / soil Chemistry / composting is just as ' Key as choice of cultivar ...
