@@maksymtsylia8426 I think it’s because there’s more ability to experiment with roast, grind size, ratio, water temperature and pouring technique etc and more subtle nuances in flavour. All without an expensive machine etc. I could be wrong but that’s the vibe I generally get when I ask and invariably get the answer of filter over espresso. To name drop I’ve asked Scott Rao and Lance Hedrick this question in person. They were both kind enough to chat with me when I met them here in Sydney. Nice gents they were to happily chat with an enthusiastic nobody like me😂

Its not a simple but a bizarre question. If you crack down beans with a stone and throw them in a mug filled with hot water, its coffee. If you grind your microlot beans with the most expensive grinder and brew it with the most expensive machine, its coffee. At the end its all coffee. Enyoy your coffee times!

A short ratio Americano made in a 125ml cortado glass. 32 grams of espresso to 93 grams of 170c water. Most likely with a single origin Guatemalan but I prefer Colombian if I can find it roasted the way I prefer, which I normally can't. Brazil will do in a pinch. Speaking of roasting I prefer it on the darker side of medium in a modern sense. Something around 50-52 Agtron. But I like cortados too. I grew up on commodity coffee made in a bunn coffee pot where it burnt away on a hot plate for hour at a time so if it comes down to it, I'll drink anything, lol.
