UK too have population atleast half of Japan so I don't think both are ideal for zombie apocalypse... Only really small Islands could survive this apocalypses. In Real life scenerio Zombie Apocalypse will be a flop as militaries of most nations aren't as dump as militaries in movies and they easily can kill all the zombies. Yeah it definitely will cause destruction and chaos but it wouldn't be deadly or end of the world.

Iceland, last standing or last to fall. Here's why: - It's cold enough to slow down zombies severely. - Population only 300K with 0.1 people per square kilometer outside of Reykjavik. - Geothermal, hydroelectric or renewable energy infrastructure needed to grow plenty of food. - No military. Little to no organized crime activity before the start outbreak = Far fewer riots and chaos. - Svalbard Global Seed Vault not too far away in Norway to provide fertilizers and seeds.

small, isolated island nation with some brains will be just fine. In case of any emergency. Zombies are strong only in large groups. And if they have people with no brains like them against them. Like any modern military for example would use any zombie group as target practice (slow, unarmed, unarmored enemy without any tactic, or even working brain? It is not even a joke) Countries with small population per square km will be fine. Also - this kind of people would learn how to deal with any problem pretty fast, modern people from large cities (me included) rely too much on the army, the country, the police. "someone have to do something wth this ZOMBIES #zombie" vs "yo, earl, go with me to hund some zombies, it will be funny" "sure, chad, let me take my axe and shotgun"

That means America should be too. But for me, this is more about how the society in the country works. I would say that North Korea would be most powerful country after the outbreak. They would not worry about South Korea as their border is a literally dead zone full of mine. Their only problem is border with China and Russia. But that could be maintained as they have strong military power. Other than that, dictatorship is a good leadership in this very case. Most likely, the current president will kill all elderly and sick people that have high chance of dead and will prevent any other civilian to turn into dangerous zombie, such gag their mouth even if they are alive (the only time able to opened is when eating only).

The fact that the checkpoint has been abandoned for most of a decade at first glance would seem to indicate that things went south in the UK sometime after the last time they were seen alive and well, which was about 2-3 years into the apocalypse by character accounts in the show. Of course, that doesn't explain where the electricity in the tunnel is coming from. Generators would have run out a long time ago. There's no solar power. Someone on the other side is maintaining a power grid. Now, the UK imports almost half its food and oil. It's neither food nor energy independent. Even with strict rationing in effect, there was likely to be some degree of starvation and unrest due to scarcity of supplies in the wake of the Wildfire pandemic. If UK society is still hanging in there at all, it would be by a thread. The fact we haven't seen or heard about any British expeditionaries performing reconnaisance abroad seems to indicate things aren't substantially better there than elsewhere. Also, if the UK was still business as usual, or something approaching that, then people in France would have heard about it by now. Possibly the Civic Republic would have known about it, as well. That being said, based on events in Daryl Dixon, it looks like someone over there is operating fishing trawlers, which are diesel powered. Which is telling, because extracting and converting oil into fuel requires there to be an operational power grid, other infrastructure, modern logistics channels, and refineries. It also is only an economically worthwhile activity if there's a demand for it, which can only come from a large population. It also requires collaboration between multiple human settlements, not just one. This certainly indicates there's some form of advanced economics happening in the UK. So, I think we can safely conclude that some level of British society persists, or at least has rebuilt itself, following the apocalypse. The only canon explanation I can think of for the UK's absence from the world is they're either still picking up the pieces and rebuilding themselves--much like the Commonwealth--or they're deliberately concealing themselves from the world, much like the Civic Republic.

Much of Atlantic Canada would be pretty chill. Islands and peninsulas limit land attack vectors, rough coastlines limit viable floater access, primarily settled coastlines makes any beach walkers quickly spotted. Oh, and it’s literally chill as sub-zero temperatures would freeze those pesky undead solid. All they’d have to do is brainhole anyone who dies so they don’t come back. Social cohesion (and modern supply chain dependence) in times of such crisis is a bitch. I think societal cohesion falling did more damage than the walkers. It was too interconnected and big and anyone dying and rising (unless specific damage applied) isn't helping it. The military would likely be capable on average - but what do you do if your fuel for your tank you can use to steamroll hundreds is gone, what if your bullets start dwindling and resupplies get harder and harder, especially if dependent on land routes? Then as the military and command structure itself starts to take damage or fail you'd see no more overall cohesion and units falling apart, people deserting, etc.

I'm shocked that people in the Walking Dead didn't regress to use medieval technology to combat the outbreak. Even getting to late viking age to early middle age with mail armor with leather filling gaps and utilizing swords/spears/axes as weapons for combating the dead while having protection of effectively bite proof armor just makes sense while coaxing the dead into chokepoints for ease of addressing them in an orderly fashion. The Walking Dead demonstrated that a prison could be used as a fortification for safety. Fear the Walking Dead used a stadium as a fortification with secure interior farming and that'd have chokepoints just built into the architecture. In both of those instances it was other living people that were the real risks to that security. Even if you lost the pre-built base styles you could use containers to make a motte and bailey fortification and slowly expand secure territories to setup your own style of fiefdom. This doesn't seem overly complicated to me, more just the characters seem extremely ignorant of these capabilities.

That one is pretty easy to explain why. Blacksmithing is one of those things that's easy to start and make horseshoes or nails, but takes decades to be good enough to make real armour. And real armour is heavy (not as heavy as you'd think, but enough that after 6 hours in it a normal person wouldn't be able to move), it takes MULTIPLE people to put on but the biggest factor, it has to be made to fit. You lose or gain 5 or 10kg, sorry, need new armour. That's the reason why only people who would be the equivalent to millionaires with 100m or more in our money were able to afford it. As for the prisons, it depends on the prison since most were made to keep people in, not out. The big issue comes when cities are infected and instead of a hundred or a thousand pushing at that chain link fence, then concrete of your prison, you have millions. For instance, a 20ft steel shipping container can only withstand 48k pounds of pressure. Pack ten thousand bodies against it and it'll crumple like an opened can. Everything has it's limits.

Even then the protection you would want comes more from the early middle ages which was mostly chain and leather. Which you can find a modern shark chainmail suit for divers that'd protect you from bites and scratches. This is all without needing the specialty skills to make it yourself. @@doot1429 Hey, actual swiss here Yes, most people have gun training, because of the mandatory military service, me included, and most people keep their weapons when they finish their service. It is true that we have enough bunkers across the country to house every single citizen. About landmines, lemme give a little more detail. Some time during the 20th century (if I recall correctly it was in-between WW1 and WW2) nearly all important infrastructure was filled with explosives in case someone had the bright idea of invading us. That includes roads, bridges (every single one), railroads, tunnels, etc. In the early 2000s. it was decided to get rid of all the explosives, that were progressively becoming old and unreliable, and this was done the years that followed. So unless I'm saying a mistake, no, the country is not landmined anymore. Still, in case of a zombie outbreak, the biggest advantage we have is the fact that it is extremely easy to get rid of the south borders in the alps, by barricading (and I'm talking military high-grade barricade, not the thing US walls are made of) or triggering landslides with explosives...

While I personally think that the UK in the twd universe has fallen just like the states, I think the reason you are bringing up is kinda naive. I saw the season 3 trailer of Daril Dixon the walking dead. They show us a little of how England is, maybe England survive and the government control the situation with the army. They said that the government close all airports on time, they manage to kill the little amount of walkers in the country and they also manage to prevent other people from getting inside the country. It is obviously on the next season, if you watched the season 3 trailer. I think the government end up falling because maybe at some point the people raised up to be free to move inside and outside the country. The people at some point trust the military, the government and maybe the monarchy, but maybe after a few years. People raised up and the military, government and maybe the monarchy fall. In an apocaliptic virus outbreak in this case in the walking dead universe. It is impossible to keep an entire nation control by the military. It is true that inside that tunnel between France and the UK, the British military set up a checkpoint to prevent people and the walkers to get inside the island. As we can see, something happen that the military checkpoint fall and maybe the British army in the end blocked the entrance to the country. I have to give alot of credit to the UK, the army and all security forces and the government react in time, that means the British health deparment and maybe with some military intelligence. They were tracking the mysterious outbreaks happening in the US and France that they probably got worried with all the information they got. Not only that, but the ones who creat the virus in France maybe they also have some contacts in the UK helping the french group and maybe also someone talk to the UK government about this new virus that the UK listen better than the rest of the world and they do something to maintain the entire UK population save. The country at this point, might have many cities and villages that life still going and they are living back again like the middle ages and the advance world that was before the outbreak. I know is alot of things i said, but England might have alot of life than the rest of the world and also Spain because it has alot of castles, villages that can be protected and even great builidings where life can continue.

Geographically, they would have an advantage being an alliance of island nations. If they got ahead of the outbreak at the beginning and didn't let it spread through the general population while also aggressively protecting their borders, it's conceivable that they could get through the worst of the outbreak relatively unscathed. Between the three of the nations involved - Britain, Scotland and Ireland - they have plenty of arable land, oil production, easily controlled entry points and enough population to be self-sufficient indefinitely, especially if they learn to produce the things for themselves that they normally import. The biggest concern would be controlling the Channel and preventing refugee boats possibly filled with infected people from coming ashore off the mainland.

Realistically, the UK could survive. You divide the three land locked nations into three parts. England, Scotland, and Wales. Creating well-made borders that serve as checkpoints as well. If one falls then the others can still operate and assist in taking back the lost part. Each zone would have its own military and emergency services presence to ensure security after dealing with walkers or the UK equivalent name. If a quick response was acted upon then it is most likely the UK would stop an uncontrollable outbreak from taking over. So it is possible the UK survived, but for how long us another story. Even if there wasn't as swift response. The people of Wales and Scottland would build walls to stop walkers or UK equivalent name from entering their lands. England being the larger country would fall easily, just due to a large populations of its regions. Chances are the UK is being used as a base by CRM or someone else, due to how safe it can be in some parts, like Wales. It's a port and farming nation that can, if allowed to, produce will produce all kinds of produce. The right natural resources will allow Wales to have power for some time. The right areas will allow the production of natural remedies and even pharmaceutical products. So long as the walkers are eradicated and we can ensure that: 1. There are measures in place to stop them from coming back as someone passes 2. There are regular sweeps of the land to ensure no walker can restart the outbreak Then everything should be under control. It would be about ensuring the people adapt to the new way of life, some won't and that could destroy the hard work.

I have always been amazed about how Zombies are capable of collapsing humanity, aside from inicial chaos and outbreakes they can be easily killed and destroyed, a mere tank is inmortal to a lot of zombies. So yes people would die in mass numbers while the disease is still unknown, but in all zombie games/movies humanity ends up dividing zombies and non infecteds pretty well, so I do not understeand how would humanity collapese (at least against the typical zombies shown in movies and series, specially The Walking Game, if we are talking about World War Z you have a point, they are freaky af)

-White Land- Greenland might be collapsed as well some years after the outbreak even though it might not be overrun by zombies. Most likely due to starvation in consecutive hard years. Its economy is way too dependent to the outside world due to its lack of necessary resources and this makes it almost impossible to pull a subsistent economy.

Russia. No dense in population, too large spaces between settlements, harsh long winters (somewhere 7 months in year, somewhere even 10), the state is very strong and will have time to react. I think Moscow and Saint-Petesburg may be lost, some cities in European part, but closed military town will survive. Also, Soviets developed big farms around many cities in case of food shortages when nuclear war happened. This farms exist nowadays

Ireland would have like two key sources of entry for outbreaks. Dublin and Belfast. Place miliitary work there and allow police to manage town defense for the settlements. If the cities are well fought, herds will only really trouble the outskirts towns before the problem naturally disperses across the land. Towns are well sparsed out. You could imagine each town as an outpost by itself. Proper communication between Irish citizens would ensure that herd management can be achieved. I think Ireland has a good shot at containing the outbreak due to this. Not to mention having all the right people and things necessary to live off the land properly. Yep, being in Ireland would be paradise in a apocalyptic scenario

I would bet the Nordic countries would be able to survive at least in some form. Now you would say "But Finland is next to St.Petersburg which has over 5 million people." That is true, but there are many almost impassable rivers between SPb in South of Finland. Blow the bridges and no Z can move westward. Well continental Denmark might be toast but blow the Øresund bridge and Norway and Sweden are pretty much isolated from the continent by land.

100k bodies in almost any river would block it for awhile, allowing the other 4.9 million to pass by. Then the next city, and the next. With Africa and Asia both being connected by land and with their populations, no where on those continents would be safe. TBH, I'm a bit disappointed TWD have only just started to use the idea that there would be HUNDREDS of millions roaming around in giant hoards, flattening cities Rumbling style. That kinda force could demolish small mountains just by passing over them
@Valokaari
@Valokaari Ай бұрын
@@tanepukenga1421 I think not. You have not seen the region between the Kymi river and SPb. Any zombie trying to go over Kymi or Vuoksi would be flushed to the Sea. Even the isthmus has been difficult to pass for a well equipped army. And then there is always the old man winter and the fact that the capitals of the Nordic countries are around the same latitude as Achorage Alaska. The not so northern parts of the countries have winter up to 7 months and zombies do not like the cold. But Yeah, it would be interesting to know what happened to Asia. The hordes there must be massive. I could even bet that China, India, Russia and Pakistan would try to use nukes against those. I would love to know about central Europe as it is filled with castles and such fortifications, we´re talking about a number that is in the thousands.
@tanepukenga1421
@tanepukenga1421 Ай бұрын
@@Valokaari The first 10, 20, sure. But you're not understanding the numbers of a million bodies. That river has been blocked by forestry wood offcuts. Less than 00.00001 of the european horde walking through would be enough to block it completely. I'm starting to think there's a fundamental lack of people understanding how many a million people really are. Everyone keeps thinking about it in terms of hundreds of thousands at most. As for the cold, that depends on the type of zombie. These are TWD ones which heat as they rot according to the spin offs, so the cold wouldn't affect them as they wouldn't freeze. If you're already dead, you only need to be warm enough to not freeze solid, which moving is enough for everything else alive. The castles thing is a good idea though since they could realistically keep millions out while you slowly whittle them down... Well, until the (potentially nuked) ones from Asia and Africa show up and go WWZ style over the walls

It doesn't make sense that any country would survive due to the fact that anyone that passes without the brain destroyed becomes a zombie. I also don't understand how so many huge communities exist and never touch on this. People in this communities likely pass at least once a day considering the size of these groups, but they never have any issues with people becoming walkers? I think they would at least have a force or strict mandate where they check on everyone weekly/daily and contain older people/sick people in isolated areas in case they pass. Yet you look at these communities and everyone seems to have a somewhat regular life as before.

I think it makes sense for the uk to have survived, if it locked down the nation at the beginning then they would have avoided the worst of the outbreak. Plus it was said that the uk they traveled as far and i think made contact with canada if the uk have the resources to travel as fare as canada then they likely have the resources to keep the nation together which means the government and military along with a large part of the population most likely survived. its likely that some parts of the countrie probably got overrun like london but the rest of the country is most likely still functioning, plus i think the creators did say they had somthing planned for the uk so yea, plus you have to take into count that uk is a ireland thus they would have a easier time keeping things undur cuntroll then the rest of the country's so i think the country did survive the apocalypse and is doing fine it could just be trying to rebuild itself from the outbreak
