This is such a huge gem for the LoL community. You don't even want to know how much years it took to figure out how to manipulate the wave correctly and I still do it wrong in some scenario's. Even some pro's or top challenger players don't do parts of this correctly sometimes.

What should you do when you don’t have the priority in the early game to create a push and it starts pushing into you?
@reptyy412610 ай бұрын
The only time ur not gonna be having prio in early game is if ur facing hard matchups/counter picks. Or if enemy jungler starts topside and you fear a lvl 3 gank. My best advice is try to soak as much xp and cs "safely" Dont let enemy toplaner do a bunch of dmg on you. Leaving you up to be dived or forced to recall. The play is to either passively farm wait for ur jungler to come or u could play around item spikes and level up trades but generally speaking ur not mean't to win lane against a counter pick. But mid game late game would be ur best friend. Also when it comes to survivabillity go dorans shield and second wind overgrowth and ur chilling.

However, that Ornn player is presumably a challenger so a lot better than me, do you think it's correct or a mistake for him to use Q for the stronger trade?

Hello Alois, I´m a hugh fan and and learning a lot from your videos. This video is one of my favorites and I´m now watching it for the third time to improve more and more because the early game is just to important to make mistakes. Up to this point I´m struggeling with a specific situation. It would be awesome if you can gimme a quick tip on how to improve. Example: Riven vs Olaf. (Enemy jungler is pathing top) Because i think that I´m in a losing matchup, I try to do a second wave crash (my thoughts: hit level 2 first and be save for a potential jungle gank because of the bounce back). But on the bounce back olaf - smart as he is - stacks the wave and eventually pushes the wave under tower. During this time i respect him because of the minion advantage and the level 3. Now comes the problem. After the wave crash into my tower the lane slowly pushes into Olaf. He is stronger level 4 and zones me from last hitting. If he does this correctly he can keep this lane state up for 3-5 waves. I feel like i have no options at this point because i cant win the all in. I think there are definitely ways on how to avoid getting in this situation at the first place, but how do i escape this situation when it already happend? Best regards from Germany :) Love your content

Hey Alois! I just found this channel to work on some top lane fundementals. I was wondering how you approach these first 4 waves if you feel like your champion doesn't have as much priority or wave clear in those first few levels. It feels like most of these crashing strategies rely on being able to pressure your opponent early.

@Arel_Kursat Жыл бұрын
Thanks dude. I am a jungle main but I know other lane's laning phase except top. Now I know exactly how it plays out for top lane, so I time my ganks according to the lane state. Of course no top lane really knows these in my games and they just get ganked freely, even if I warn them when will the enemy jungler be there. They say stupid shit like "oh then I am not gonna farm huh?" if they watch the game and know what junglers does, they can manage the lane accordingly but no one knows.
@rammycanales37843 ай бұрын
You cant always do so though. In the cases you cant, it really sucks giving up cs to an enemy freeze. Both sides may know the same level of wave management and the better champ early game will get to decide how the wave looks like. This is why you always give last pick to your top laner!

ah i got from bronze to gold just on the concept of slow-pushing and freezing but i have never really thought about this sort of thing yet. i think the one thing missing here is how to decide when to do 2nd wave / 3rd wave / 4th wave crash. you mentioned it a bit but i think a recap at the end would help crystallize it in the mind. the one thing that stuck is "4th wave is best if possible" but i'm not 100% sure how to tell when it's possible.
@atanasdzhivdzhanov4252 Жыл бұрын
That's where match up exp. and jgl knowledge comes into play. Every match up is diffrent every player will aproach match ups difrent. In theory there is an optimal way to aproach a match up but sometimes you can get away with being aggresive and getting wave prio in match ups you are not supposed to have it. For example Darius in the video is playing TP flash and starts Q lvl 1 wich I don't think is the standart way to aproach this match up. On the other hand if Ornn flashed 3th Riven Q when he was lvl 2 and Riven lvl 3 he could possibly put riven in a though spot later on when he was about to hit lvl 3. So like every game and match up plays out diffrent.

Currently just demoted from near silver yesterday to nearly bronze 3 in a single night of bad games full of awful teammates. i even went 26/5 on khazix and lost that game.
@sentko892611 ай бұрын
Look into your own games, try to find someone who plays the champions you play and ask them to go all out and give you every mistake. It should hurt, because if it doesn't, you won't break through, at this point. 1 - 3k hours, you need to understand that the problem is basically never your teammates before a very, very high level.

This was a great guide but what should be the gameplan when I don't have the clearly stronger early game champ? In all of the examples you can freely trade aggressively and win control over the wave as your champ is stronger (You obviously also played really great and that's why you could do it but in some matchups you simply can't contest level 1 at all no matter how well you try to trade) Do I just try to not let them do any of the crashes, do I try to force an outplay to get one of the crashes myself even if they can win trades by just playing decently or do I just let it happen and call for help or play from behind for the rest of the laning phase? Is there any option that's actually decent?

Nice vid! The only detail I dont love (maybe you mentioned it) is that Riven specifically is a champ that really pressures the enemy early game with her lvl ups. I usually just dont touch the wave if an enemy Riven got there first, and hard push when I can. Honestly, thats the strategy I use for most match ups. Although you can always ensure an advantage by doing this, a good player will just give up cs to not die to a Riven (or any champ for that matter) lvl up. Sometimes I even bait the riven thinking she can kill me with a precise flash into qw only to miss miserably by my positioning and getting half hpd for free lmao

Can you explain how the second 4th wave crash is another 4th wave crash? Is it just because you're slow pushing the 4th wave in the middle and then crashing the 5th when you can? What if they don't let you crash the 5th wave the same way they didn't let you crash the 4th? Does that put it back into another 2nd wave crash situation for the number of minions that you've pushed or is a 4th wave crash just any crash from the 4th wave and on before your first recall? Sorry for so many questions, but I just want to be sure I understand. Great video, chief ❤️

I one trick Ornn in high emerald low diamond and I love abusing grasp timings. Every single time my grasp is up, I go for a quick auto trade along with my low cooldown Q, especially when my opponent is going for a last hit and their auto is on cooldown (or they hit me and miss a minion). Doing this makes minions aggro on me and lets me keep pushing in the wave and give me that lvl 2 advantage, deep ward, harass, and make the lane push back into me for a nice freeze, avoiding ganks, and extending my lead. Ornn specifically is also very good at counter engaging after a trade, so holding a freeze and making sure the enemy can't push it in is very easy
@masterforcer39566 ай бұрын
I would love to also know what to do when you're a weaker early game champion. Then you can't get the push and you would be in a disadvantageous spot. Any idea how to counter this? Or would you have to rely on your jungler?

Really good insight as a low elo player, only thing I would say is all these predictions of where your and the enemy will path, when they will gank ect, is good for mid to high elo maybe, in low elo players are very unpredictable, and are much more likely to not work with you on these moments of opportunity, in bronze your jungle will often just afk farm until thet see a gank mid or bot and ignore top lane all together, you cannot reason or assume the thought process of a bronze elo player

Hello Alois, thanks a lot for the guide, it is great to finally see good content for toplane. I have a rather specific question that i would love to receive an answer to: I am D2 in EUW, currently learning Gangplank. What do you do if you can't get push priority lvl 1, for example if you have to leash, play TP vs IGN, or play a weak early game champ? If i play GP with First Strike + TP, i feel like i can't control the wave at all until sheen, which results in me giving up a lot of cs and TP as well, as i can't crash the wave into their tower. Watching Solarbacca, he kind of cheats himself out of this situation through taking ignite, and he often gets push priority. But in a competitive game, you would take TP instead. Is that why Koreans take Grasp + TP on GP, to ensure they can contest the wave at least a little bit? I would love a guide for things you can do when not having push priority lvl 1. Is all i can do just waiting 10 miles away until the wave crashes? And how do i play the GP vs Riven Matchup, what do good GPs do that annoy you? Thanks a lot!
