Hearing you say to her that you haven't taken portraits in a while is mind blowing to me. Your environmental portraits have always been my favourite shots you take, I don't think I've ever seen one I didn't like. Thanks for the upload brother, always a treat!!

what's great about this test shoot/reconnecting with friends is that both of you kept it FUN. the slow mo part stood out to me of the friendship to have. also hilarious. I enjoyed watching the mental notes having her jump into the crowd having her blend in. that idea opened up in the scene under the bridge. great work my friend !

Wow. You captured really great images of that very beautiful model. Watching this, I was surprised at how much the places you were shooting at look like Chicago neighborhoods. Also impressed with the IQ of that lens/camera combo. That SL 24-70 hasn’t gotten rave reviews (compared to their 24-90), but I’m very impressed.

12:22 - I’m like, I know this spot! It’s where we ended up after shooting for 3 hours during a workshop with Phil Penman. It was 8am on a Saturday. A few weeks ago. Got a cool snap with the Q2M of a guy riding some sort of dolly on the street under that bridge. So cool to see you took some snaps in the same area.

Would be great to know how your brand new 35mm summilux compares to the former and beloved 35 summicron. I've used the 50 lux on the new M11 and found hard to nail focus, but I'm not a rangefinder veteran, so that was to be expected, I'm afraid.

Great video and stop being so hard on yourself. Considering the spontaneity of this shoot the photos came out great. What hit me was when you stated facts about magazine shoots and how they don't go for the bokeh look. It seems IG and KZbin have made that a far bigger thing than what actually happens in the portrait and fashion photography world. I've got a test shoot later this week and I'll have a similar setup, the LUMIX S4 with the Sigma 28-70mm f2.8 and the Leica CL with Voigtlander 40mm f1.4. Looking forward to your next video.

No real explanation other than I didn't need to bring a flash or other lenses. 24-70 covers everything I could need and bringing more gear would have been distracting. Thanks for watching!

Great video and stunning images, as always! The Fujifilm 16-55 is a little too large to use on the X-E4, for me at least, but the 18-55 f2.8-4 is a great compromise and forces you away from shooting at really shallow depth of field. I just need to get over my anxiety and introverted nature to be able to give this a go. Regardless, thanks for the inspiration and looking forward to more videos. Oh, I notice you finally got the Amaran 60d! How’s it working out?
@Stockezy2 жыл бұрын
You'll get over it through practice and understanding that you don't have to be like more extroverted photographers. I've assisted plenty of people that where quiet and contemplative. You set the tone when taking photos. You'll find your way through practice. The light is amazing! My girlfriend doesn't hate its footprint in our tiny space. haha

Hey man ! I recognized myself on the moment before the shoot as you did hesitate on which gear to take with you. I real try to work on that, I sold a lot of gear lately, not because it’s wasn’t good. Just to limit myself on the choice I have. Last year, having to decide which gear to pick for a shoot and sometimes bringing to much gear with me, has limited me in the creative process. This has to change 💪🏻
@Stockezy2 жыл бұрын
I totally agree, the more you have the more distracted you can be if you're improvising. There are other situations that require you bring more but I know 80% of the images I take phot or video work, all I need is a 24-70.

Good one! I was really surprised by the out of focus area and nice fall off (bokeh) of the 24-70 zoom, especially at 24mm I would have expected a lot more depth of field, especially with the environmental shots (not the really close ups), I would never tought that such a clear separation is possible on the wider end, some of the shots look more like taken with the Leica Q2 (28/1.7) or the M 24er Summilux. Ok, ok, maybe not that strong, but seriously much greater subject separation as I would have expected. Thanks for sharing and the work you spend into it!

Really nice video/pics....BTW most of the shots do look wide open.✌🏼
@Stockezy2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, a decent amount are wide open and some are at f4. The point is that I am not using a super fast tele-lens to remove context from my images. Pops of color and texture from the environment can help build the image. Shooting at 24mm wide open makes a very different image from a 80mm at f1.2.
