This really is one of the less geeky practical putting lessons you have posted. I have about 5 things here to take to the putting green. I think for me to rank them it's the idea of aiming for a spot based on the summation of the variables, pacing off and practicing for that control, lining up the ball, using the straight line of the putter held over my left belt loop to set the face, put the face down on target then step up and for me the mantra of 1..2. Scott did his homework for you on this one as well Jerome! I took up golf basically the same time you did and your time with these coaches is building my game when I believe I have a shot at this! I hope you still believe you can get to scratch!

I was on tour in the late 1970s and early 1980's. My golf instructor was Harvey Penick. I was a better than average putter, but no Ben Crenshaw that's for sure! The rest of my game was probably slightly worse than average, but I was streaky at times and capable of scores in the 63-66 range. I usually had low scores like that when I hit 15+ greens in regulation.

I love the concept of lines on the ball. I have the same issue as him. When I’m over the ball. That line always look so far left of the hole, my mind just can’t get over it or my hand tries to fix it at impact. He never told us how to fix that or correct that during your session with him

Regarding the aim hack......... I'm cross-dominant when it comes to eye-dominance. I'm mostly left eye dominant, but my right eye wants to fight to take over, so I have to shoot a shotgun with one eye closed and I turn my head to the right when shooting a pistol to take my right eye out of the equation. Would I want to turn my head like when shooting a pistol, or should I close one eye to avoid seeing it wrong?

There is a point in the video where the student say that when he aligned the line with the point where he want to start the ball or the aim point , when he approaches the ball its look that is aim to different point can be right left or what ever , but it not match the point where he want .. well this happens to many players because they have been told to putt the eyes exactly over the ball and it not for everyone.. because everyone will see that the line is in different place .. to correct that what player must do is : get to the ball and move the eyes back and forward till he see that the line is match the point where he want to play .. and when he see the line is aligned good this is the position of his eyes regarding the ball , for some people will be over the ball for some inside the ball for some other out side the ball .. everyone is individual… look for Mike Malaska talking about this problem…

Not really sure I understand 2:1 ratio putting. Is that 2x backswing to 1x forward?
@gunghogolf
@gunghogolf 13 күн бұрын
Yes. Which should happen organically if you swing the putter smoothly like a pendulum. Use a metronome app for practice - most pros are at 76 bpm from takeaway to impact. It will feel fast most likely, as most ams have too slow a backswing then save it by putting extra effort into the downswing.

Is using a line on the ball a good idea? It takes time, which creates pressure, and detracts from freely reading subtle breaks.
@kevinfan8477
@kevinfan8477 16 күн бұрын
For me it frees me up to focus on speed since my line is set, so it relieves pressure. And I absolutely don't want to be reading subtle breaks or second guessing anything while standing over the ball. It is definitely a bit slower though, but gets faster with experience.
@WigganNuG

Nearly every tour player uses a line so its basically Meta bro lmao. But yea, I don't use the line either but I'd probably be way better if I did. When I tried it I found I was about as good at hitting my intended line either way; I've never had major issues lining up my putts and hitting my marks I'm aiming for.

I figured out the shorter back stroke idea on my own. I thought of it like riding a bicycle. When you try to ride slow you wobble all over the place. When you ride with some pace you can ride a straight line. Pace or tempo creates stability. The last part he talks about. I make a practice from behind the ball just more as a rhythm piece. When you take a practice stroke from beside the ball. Most of the time we mess up the setup and aim incorrectly because of the stepping in. If anything you should step out and reset. The speed bit. I learned that from playing Tiger Woods golf video games in the late 90's. You had to move the aim point for uphill and downhill. I just started doing that for real. Whichever way it is I take an educated guess and make my practice strokes to that spot. It has always worked for me.

Why do I feel that the you actually do blaime the whs system for making the rules for competions. What you say also tell that players do not manage their handicaps, if they would their hcps would reflect their good day handicap. I do not understand the comments about whs making game slower…. It is the players who are slow, why would the way they count their handicap in any way influence? You are not obliged to stop playing when your ”shots are used”.

@@Kempscreek He strikes the ball remarkably well for a person only having played the game for around a year which tells me he's grinding. The other evidence he seems to care is that he has been very consistent about putting out videos minus one small break. Also, its GOLF give it some credit; its fucking addicting game even to people who don't strike the ball particularly well; you just need to see improvement and have those moments.. you know the ones. It ADDICTS YOU and you get the bug. Or you simply don't and hate it. And I don't see someone who hates the game being this persistent about grinding, changing up coaches and making videos. Who knows though; like you said great coaches and great tips. He can defend himself lol.

IF YOU HAVE PUTTING DIFFICULTIES DONT BUY ANOTHER SHORT PUTTERS , I MUST HAVE BOUGHT 50 PUTTERS NOTHING WORKED ,UNTIL GOD FORBID I BOUGHT A BELLY HIGH PUTTER AND LEARNED THE BALANCE SWING: FROM BEING 90% short to being regularly 1or 2 feet past .Why: because with a short putter i would often miss 3 footers so i was scared and ended up not stroking the put. But with a long putter i make 90% 3 footers. I no longer panick when i am on the green last summer i even made 3 45 feet puts which i did not even get close before. so if your strugling go to a place where you can leave your credit card or charge your credit card go try it not on a carpet but on a regular green and be prepared to be surprised.
