It seems you want to meld 2x skill speed materia 12's in your gear to have a GCD of 2.48 which on average deals more damage then 2.5. So don't ignore skill speed like a Grimace Shake! Edit: Patch 7.05 dropped... lol, lmao even... will I make a follow up video? Idk honestly, but it doesn't change much in the core rotation other then we don't need to worry about Noxious Gnash anymore and you just alternate Dread Fangs and Steel Fangs now, going into the 2min burst has never been easier either. You can still watch some of the optimization segment of this video but just disregard information about Noxious Gnash, it really still is just press the shinny buttons...

Why does everyone hate on the gauge, its literally all i use. Put it in simple, place it in a prominent spot and never look at your bar again. "how do you know which positional is coming up?" 2nd hit in the combo determines that from the gauge as long as you're hitting the glowing one. Combo hit 2: Right Side Glowing? 3rd hit is a rear positional! Left Side Glowing? 3rd hit is a flank positional! or just remember what you did before. You can literally turn off your UI and just put your Dreadwinder and Serpent's Ire on a small bar to monitor CD's.

This is going to trip me up so hard. I've got it ingrained into my head that left is rear and right is flank from Samurai, and I've fashioned every melee actionbar around that too.

It’s really unintuitive on controller for me at least, I started the game as lancer and you get your 1 on circle by default, and your two on x, so the natural 1 2 3 flow became circle x square, so if I use circle x for steel and dread, it ends up being backwards, and idk the muscle memory is more important to me than using the gauge

I really wish I could like this job. I really do. Every time I swap to it to give it a chance I end up hating it more. I just don't click with it's combos and it feels like a mess. I've leveled everything else from omni 80 to omni 90 and the only other job I didn't like was astro until now. I'll probably end up leveling it with pvp roulettes and journals just to get the mount and be done. I'm glad a lot of people are enjoying it though.

And I think that's okay! Honestly I really like the job and how it plays, it feels unique, at least to me. But it won't be my mainstay Melee DPS, that remains Samurai for it's ease of use and how nice it feels to free style with a good understanding of the jobs fundamentals (it also doesn't cramp my hand...)

I didn’t expect to fall for Viper as hard as I did, but oh man did it really take me for a ride that I have thoroughly enjoyed from my new favorite melee. It’s a tad annoying that 7.01 seems to be addressing feedback of it being “too busy”, where I don’t feel that in the least bit, but I don’t see it killing my enjoyment of my new twin blade fantasy. Also Azu I get that Katana is a beauty after the graphic update but keep your private life behind closed doors you pervert! lol

Personally I don't like using all 3 of my ranged attacks in the opener. Might be ideal on a dummy, but let's be honest. DT fights can be somewhat chaotic and I prefer to keep at least 2 charges banked for movement situations.
