Thanks Jonathan! I personally think that the platform is a worthy successor to the Supra name. Yeah it’s not completely made by Toyota, but I’m just glad that they partnered with BMW to give us a (relatively) affordable platform that has a bunch of potential. You can bet I’ll keep pushing out those videos! I got another one in the works that I’m editing and have others lined up.

@@VinceChristmastree of course! My 2021 supra is stock besides a drop in hks filter and a catless downpipe, but my mhd dongle is on the way so I can do the xHP flash. Hoping for an ots tune sooner than later!

Hello fellow mk v TOYOTA SUPRA owner, great video btw, the amount of info and effort is commendable to say the least. and this is also another W for us mkv owners is that we have access to more modding options than any jdm brand, btw what of the manual mode? does the aggressive shift map also makes the paddle response sharpen up? its already dct like stock but can you make equally responsive as a dct and eliminate that tiny bit of lag?

Thanks for the kind words! Yes, a more aggressive shift map will mean slightly quicker shift changes after your input with the paddles. The quicker changes helps the car stay in boost better which of course will make the car feel faster. There’s a couple of people on YT and FB that have actually tested it on Dragy, but I haven’t since I don’t have the system. I’ll do a video on it once I do have it. Thanks again for the support!

Thanks Ryan! That one, I cannot say for certain. Don't want to say anything wrong that can lead you the wrong way! I apologize about that. I will report back with my longterm findings. What I mean is that there is a preconception that modifying/tuning your car will void the warranty, but that is not the case. The dealership or shop has to prove that your modifications caused the problem before denying your warranty. It's called the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.

So the blue one is the module/dongle directly from RBTTuning. That will work as expected!

Nope, it doesn’t matter if your ECU is locked or unlocked. It can slightly make the car faster as it shifts quicker/more aggressively. I don’t have hard numbers to post up, but some others around the internet have tested it.

Hey VC, question. My car is getting FEMTO’d and downpiped as we speak. It’ll be the longest wait I’ve ever been without the car. The shop also offered me a Stg 2 XHP trans tune for extra performance. Does it also offer any protective benefit to have XHP? My ‘22 Supra is my daily and I’ll likely never track or drag it. And I’ll probably do E30 every once in a while, thats it. I’d like the extra performance but not at the expense of drive ability or reliability.

Protective benefit? Outside of the feature for "line pressure bump" to lessen the severity or occurrences of the transmission slipping, no. XHP just offers another factor to customize how you want your car to perform/shift. The transmission does shift crispier with the stage 2 OTS map on XHP, but numbers-wise, the effect is minimal. You can have it shift as smoothly or sharply as you want based on the parameters you're adjusting!

Vince, have a question. Running stage 3 with shiftmap selected off. I changed all the downshifts to around -10 to -15 in each gear. When I get a new revised tune, no matter what I do through ECUTEK, it will not adjust the burbles in either normal or sport mode. Does this XHP override this feature?

Hey Mark! So you have the ability to adjust the burble on the Ecutek map? Because the burbles are configured on that map and not the xHP. Like for my car, I completely removed the burbles and pops on Ecutek.

Really up to you on that one. Bone stock cars can even install it. Mine has, but I do have a built transmission so I'm a different case.

Nah, it doesn’t always have to. It will work with JB4 and it shouldn’t touch your ECU tune.

I haven’t tried it extensively to be honest, but the couple of times it happened for a split second, it didn’t auto upshift. Could be wrong though if the car detects it happening for a while.

Yes, XHP modifies the TCU. Does not affect the ECU at all. Even stock cars can use XHP.

From xHP: Throttle Blips are used to rev-match the engine on downshifts. This function lets you setup the aggressiveness of downshift blips in manual mode. The main goal of rev-matching is to speed up downshifts by actively matching the Engine-RPM to the Target-RPM in the Target-Gear. This is done, by applying a short blip to the throttle during the transition phase between 2 gears. Users can alter the intensity of this blip, by +-50%, compared to the setting in any of the OTS Maps or Custom Map used. Higher values will lead to more audible and faster blips but can get uncomfortable. Lower values will lead to a slower but smoother rev-match. Please note, that this function does not support all vehicles/maps. Generally supported are Stage 3 Maps and N54/N55 vehicles, as well as all cars with 8- Speed Transmission.

Yes, it should work on the 2021+. I think you might be thinking of the ECU tuning, which is dependent on when your vehicle was made. I believe the ECU has to be dated June 2020 or before so it can be tuned without having to pull the ECU and send it out to Femto to get a bench unlock done.
