I heard this in person for the first time at a small party at the Manhattan Conservatory presidents penthouse......I absolutely dissolved in tears.....I had to approach her and stammer....but I just collapsed......Kate actually did as well. Miss Davis, I tell you straight away that I am of the troglodyte race. At least as it is popularly considered. I have guns of particular heritage that I love, I have a small monument (in my heart) for Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, Pope John Paul, George Washington, and Calvin Coolidge. As I am told, as a troglodyte, I should not be capable of appreciation for your work but I tell you without reservation that I love you. Not the ugly way as I am an old man but in a happier way for the hope you give me. I am a huge follower of Randy Newman, Mark Knopfler, and all the truly great game changers like Billy Holiday and Patsy Kline. As I close my eyes on this world, it gives me great solace that a Van Gogh (Yep, a right winger that loves Van Gough) like you rises for the benefit of my children and grand children. Confess it to me, this last song you wrote has to be in some way inspired by Randy Newman. Of course the other possibility is that you are your own person with your own insights. From a formerly right and now Whigged Out trogl. Some of Kate's work, if I close my eyes, my mind will provide the sratchy fill of an old 78rpm. This means she's over-the-top real.
