The gameplay revolves around cover-based shooting mechanics and features a variety of weapons. The player progresses through the story by journeying through linear paths, defeating enemies, and traversing obstacles. Quick-time events and melee takedowns are implemented, and several collectibles are scattered around the environment.
The Order: 1886 received mixed reviews from critics. Praise was directed at the game's production value, graphics, and technical achievements. At the same time, criticism was given for the game's short length, story, gameplay, replay value, and limited player involvement.

It’s 5 hours. Same length their previous games in the God of War franchise at this time. GoW1,2,3,CoO,&GoS were all around 5-6 hours and GoW2016 & Ragnarok would both be around 6-8 hours if it was for the pointless open-world bloat that was added to extend the game because modern audiences feel like games today should be 20-80+ hours.
