@@michaellockhart6176 thank you! I'm doing ok just a little worried right now. We just got confirmation that a case of Covid-19 has now shown up in my county in Idaho where I live.... What scares me most is if my Mom or Daughter were to get it they are high risk because they both have diabetes and my Mom has heart disease and just got done fighting cancer last year and is still not out of the woods yet so to speak from that.... I am worried that they might come into contact with someone who has the virus... I am doing my best to hold it together but I am exhausted and I am not in the greatest health either. On a positive note though I have lost 33 pounds and I am so happy about it! I really wish this virus would just go away!!!

Thank you. Lacy is based, in looks and personality on a dog friend of mine - she comes out to visit me when I take walks - very clever girl - I speak fluent dog though, so it's easy. Working on a follow-up story to see how Brooks and Lacy's friendship evolves when they face some residual threats - hillbilly werewolves might be inclined to feud if'n sumbuddy wuz to shoot they kinfolk, just sayin'...

: ) One of the several dog friends on whom Lacy was based was a pit bull mix named, "Dixe". Sweetes pup - I didn't see her often, she was part of a friend's family over in Austin. My friend swore that the dog was in love with me - it became a standard joke between us but she was a good girl - strong and sweet, just like Lacy.

And yes stinky breath for sure always giving kisses and breathing in my face. I don't mind everybody else is gagging or running. Thank you - DMT has presented another 6 or 7 chapters - he has more - it's about 9 total for Book 1 - currently working on Book 2 - glad you enjoyed - the tale roams around the woods at some point, then visits the city... then goes off teh rails and incorporates other Cryptids and creepy "Two-Legs" - Luke calls it "Origin of Dogman" but the individual tales are collectively known as "The Lacy Brooks Pack", with a byline for each chapter... and a different bit of song

After many hikes back at night with the group of 5 and 1 of them being stalked by a a mountain lion for 3hrs some of these stories really speak to me glad it wasn't something unknown. Always carry survival gear, food, 10mm pistol or larger, and medical supplies

Uurrrrgh... definitely- have an experienced hiker along or at least someone to double check the gear list - mountain lions are not huge but they can be deadly - people sometimes don't realize what densly packed muscles, combined with natural weaponry, can do. I'm more inclined to believe that if Big Black Cats exist, they are likely melanistic cougars or jaguars - everything looks bigger when it poses a menace

@@michaellockhart6176 up here cougars range from 110lbs to 190lbs lots of box canyons and live stock. We have a lot of wild fires during summer and 3ft or more of snow during winter so they are seen more regularly to come closer to civilization to get food

Firearms suggestion: When using a pump shotgun, apply pressure to hold it into your shoulder or chest by gripping and pulling the fore stock. It allows you to use the recoil to quickly pump in the next round 😉 Just sayin' 🐻🍀💙

@MichaelLockhart True...I have many configurations of smokepipes. Pumps are great, but prefer semi-automatics (Benelli M4, Saiga-12 or Mossberg 500 Tactical). I've seen hardcore warriors fail to jack another round in the chamber before under pressure...it's even happened to me! AND I MUST SAY... Of the many fireside tales I've read/heard in many silvery moons, this is among the best in both authorship AND narration. Maybe, possibly, potentially EVER! I give it a C+/B- ;-)

@@DocAppalachia Absolutely - performance under true pressure is what counts. I prefer my Benelli as well but I was an instructor (still am, it's the one set of skills I was able to continue in retirement) and had to learn best techniques for various platforms. I've just found that it's a good technique and with some practice (the key to any skill) it forces the shooter to eject / insert the rounds and does something useful with the recoil - I've even had some shooters who feared the recoil evolve their thinking - rare but it happens. I learned it in Advanced SWAT School many years ago in Alexandria, VA (their team taught our team). I'm proud to have been ahead of the curve on firearms training after that - I used SWAT techniques to train every officer - really love to mix range time, simulator, and force on force with simunition, always building the pressure so that they have a taste of it before they have to face it - never the same but we get as close as we can. Sorry for the ramble - too many years as a trainer and writer : )

@@michaellockhart6176 No problem, and I agree. That technique is very appropriate for pumps...I use it myself. And I say train until perfect, then train some more. But I still remember the day I saw a grizzled, HARDCORE Gunnery Sergeant with 3 combat tours in Vietnam (his favorite weapon was a 12 gauge pump) tried to engage with an empty chamber. He survived, but it was a memorable sphincter-clinching event. And though rare, I've seen it happen with other ppl. After it happened to me, I started giving semi-autos a serious look. I like the Saiga-12 because it's basically a 12 gauge AK and hard to screw up. But I still have an 870-tactical in our bedroom closet. (Of course, my family says I have enough stuff in our closet to overthrow Cuba!)

@@DocAppalachia When I retired, I shed most of my arsenal - passed it on to the next generation - I still have an 870 and my sidearm, a Glock model 41 (.45 tactical longslide) - I love that pistola - recoil feels like a 9mm. I have courses set up out back - I use yaupon trees for targets - I've actually put down some of the big ones LOL - I believe that if we are prepared, it reduces our likelihood of needing to act - yet we will still be prepared...
