In the movies, Betty Ross completely took over the role of Rick Jones as the only person who can remind Hulk of his good side.

Sorry. That's one side of the story. Here is the other. Kirby came to Atlas comics and it was on it's last legs. He created a lot of monsters for their horror mags (Journey into Mystery, Tales of Suspense Strange Tale, Tales to Astonish) The Hulk, like the Thing. was 1`00 percent his baby. He modeled it after Boris Karloff's Frankenstein. He wasn't Goodman's, it wasn't Lee's he was Kirby's creation.

Bruce: "That beastial mockery of a human. " Hulk: Human? Why should I want to be human?! Me: You're just a muscular gray guy. You're not the caveman looking Edward Hyde from the book. 8:41 Plus, Hulk needs glasses because Bruce has a more square jawline. For something weak and soft(or gentle from the 1966 series), go for more rounder shapes. It comes to shape language.

Too many here credit Stan Lee for the Hulk and other heroes. NOOOOO! Most were Jack Kirby's babies. Lee was a master self-promoter like Bob Kane on Batman. The real work horses where Bill Finger (Batman) and Jack Kirby (Almost every Marvel character in the 1960s). Kirby went on to create two entire civilizations for DC. One headed up by All Father and the enemy reign headed up by Darkseid. Like the inker Artie Simek and Jack's widow said. if Stan invented all these heroes and villains, , then what volume of characters did he create when Jack moved to DC Comics to make countless characters living in the past, present, future and other worldly characters for DC?
