There were only 3 character deaths that made me cry like a baby.... Mark Green, Jock Ewing and Finn Hudson (the latter two because not only did the characters die but their portrayers died right before their characters did). Anthony Edwards' portrayal of Dr. Green made everyone love him.

My favorite tv show next to Mash. The original cast of ER with Clooney, Edwards, La Selle, Wyle, etc was the best along with the supporting cast and guest appearances in earlier seasons.

Ya the show was strong for 8 seasons or so. It was popular after but after the main cast kinda went away it became stale. I like to binge watch seasons 1-5.

@@Radiodaze1073 My wife and I binge watch the first 8 seasons since Anthony Edwards was in 8th season and definitely a sad season with his terminal cancer. I agree I enjoyed the first 6- 8 seasons with all the original cast before Dr Ross and others left.

Tony Edwards is wrong......the original 6, especially him, MADE the show. It wouldn’t have lasted 15 seasons without their amazing work at the very beginning. ER was such an integral part of my life. From the first night I saw the pilot in high school and decided I would become a doctor, throughout the struggle I had during medical school, to graduation and getting my MD, and the day I decided to give up medicine. Even though I’m no longer practicing medicine, I never for a split second regret the decision that the show helped me make a little over 21 years ago.

why did you give it up if i may ask? i felt the same way as you described in your comment. i decided to become a doctor while i was watching this show, i was 12. remdesivir- i just got that treatment for covid haha :D

@@sif4310 After a few years I just felt it wasn't for me. I loved the science and the instant gratification when I saved someone but when I lost them I took it quite personally and it was taking a toll on me. I mean, I treated them and I called all the shots. Who else could I blame? I also got quite upset when my advice wasn't taken seriously and I made some patients cry. Luckily I rediscovered laboratory medicine (which I had kind of forgotten about since my pre-clinical days) and decided to make a career in the lab. Now I don't see patients but I still play an important role in the diagnosis and treatment and I'm truly content and appreciative of how I got here and the inspiration that the show gave me.

Omg beautifull!! But I really miss Alex Kingston here! I know she wasn't part of the original cast. But she played one hell off a big part throughout the show. I guess what I am trying to say is that, no matter what anybody says Alex Kingston rocks and is part of the heart and soul that is ER!!!! So I say, please do a reunion show WITH Alex Kingston!!!!!! And please let Anthony be alive so us fans can watch the beautifull chemistry that the two of them have together. I miss the show and I miss there love!!!

I am currently rewatching the show, for the maybe 5th time over the years. My favorite part of the show was watching Dr. Carter mature into an excellent doctor. He was like a puppy wanting to please when the show started.

I loved this show. Been rewatching (yet again) and just rewatched Mark Greene’s last episodes… his last shift at the hospital and the letter gave me tears. His final episode - the Beach - it still emotionally destroys me 💔 It’s the only tv episode that still affects me like this 😭 the original cast were just everything!

KCRyder it was more then a few seasons as the original cast were on the show the first 8 seasons with Anthony Edwards leaving at end of 8th and George Clooney left after 5 seasons in 1999 to continue his movie career full time. Through out the remainder of show original cast would come and go by the last three seasons it was a younger cast as Carter left full time in season 13.
