I LOVE every dialog that the killer said in the movie. The way he taunts Rebecca, the way he teases Kirby while hiding in Olivia's closet and every time he talked to Sidney. Just straight gold

I do like that extra line ghostface said about how it’s imperative Sidney doesn’t leave so she knows he will kill Rebecca. The death itself is simple so I prefer the one we got.

The original version of her sounds much more likable so I would have preferred that. I do like how she was thrown off the parking lot in the final version though. However I think it was Jill who killed her. It makes sense that it would be charlie in the original script but as you said it'd be weird that he would just wait for her in the final script. Jill on the other hand was in the hospital at that time because of her arm injury (see the deleted scene with her and trevor) so she probably got discharged a bit later and did it herself

I completely agree. Every time I watch Scream 4, her death seems more pointless - she wasn't close to Sidney, she wasn't trying to get Sidney to leave. Her death served no purpose beyond another kill. This version of her would have made an impact on Sidney and honestly, we need someone else like Tatum again

@@charliedavis5787 The Reason her death seemed pointless was because of the Fact that jill and Charlie Tried to Eliminate Sidney’s peers sooner rather than later so they can get her Alone in The Final Act but Sidney Fired Rebecca before jill and charlie found out about it which makes it look pointless when they Actually had a Reason

Another angle Jill and Charlie could've had for killing Rebecca is that Rebecca is Sidney's tie to fame as her publicist. And maybe Rebecca's murder was done on a whim; Jill had Charlie follow them to the hospital to off Rebecca for this purpose. Notice that Jill tells Sidney "I'm sorry about your publicist" using her title instead of her name, which is very telling. She didn't want Sidney to have a publicist. In Jill's eyes, Sidney had enough fame and adoration already.

Most people here are preferring the one we got, so here's how I'd do it: Keep Rebecca's character being Sidney's friend and keep some of the dialogue and the throat slit from the original, but also use the scene of her being thrown from above and some of the phone dialogue from the final version.

nah the version we got was MUCH better (minus the door handle breaking off). the og draft was just cheesy and not nearly as scary, suspenseful, or impactful. it may have provided a bit more logic behind who killed Rebecca, but we don’t come to Scream movies for logic. you can just assume Charlie had gained knowledge on Rebecca’s whereabouts off screen. the dialogue during the phone call was much better in the final product as well.

I think the original draft was a little darker, not just because Rebecca was more likeable, but it was a little more disturbing that the killer implied he was going to kill her and it took her a moment to realize it after he hung up on her. And the idea of the car moving out near a crowd of people is also a lot scarier and more suspenseful. I also find it scarier that he punches through the window and her screaming is cut short off-screen leaving it to your imagination and increasing how much we're worried about her before it's revealed her throat's been slashed. Honestly, that's a lot more realistic. Edit: I always had a thing for this death scene just feeling out of place compared to the others in the movie besides the killer jumping on the windshield to scare her and still liking the phone call. The chase scene itself was interesting and slightly tension-filled for a moment, but her not being likable and too dumb takes away from her death especially it being a simple gut in the belly. It wasn't strong enough for me impact-wise. Her throat being slit is a more fatal wound to show that she's dead. And the idea of the window being punched through just has a lot more weight where she didn't even have to make a stupid decision for the killer to be able to get her, which just implies the literal helplessness of her situation.

I would have liked a mix of this in the final movie. I prefer Rebecca’s chase scene as filmed with her being tossed from the building to what seems by this draft an off screen throat slash and slow roll down a hill. But the aspects of Rebecca and Sidney being friends would have been welcome additions. Even a quick scene explaining they were friends before Rebecca became her PR. Maybe Rebecca helped Sid get to the place of being able to write her book, see herself as not a victim. That could have been compelling bit of backstory.

It was the same night as Olivia's murder and besides, Jill couldn't have killed her because she was being watched in the hospital and she didn't have a Ghostface costume with her. It also takes strength to throw a young woman off the roof. Rebecca died the same night as Olivia and Charlie had his costume with him.

I think this probably would have worked better for me personally. Rebecca was more of a walking characteristic than a character. Sidney not having any proper relationships with the other characters (besides Dewey and Gail by default) was ultimately the stronger choice. Can’t compare the actual kill because properly because the scene wasn’t staged, but I’d imagine what we got (thrown from the roof onto a van) would be cheaper to than craahing a car through the hospital doors.

Blame the Weinstiens for their dirty mitts for over touching this franchise after 3, it works had it gone with Rebecca being a close friend, but we got what we got. Unless someone writes the unreleased version with all the characters we were supposed get. I heard there was character that was high school news edit version of Gale and Teacher was supposed to be framed making him a Cotton 2.0 if you will.

This is way better. EXCEPT, the way it should be is ...the same with her being thrown off the roof, landing on the van. But this is WAAAAAY better. The intensity and drama. Sidney hearing GF and just taking off running and right when she gets to the entrance, the body hits the van.
