I've rarely seen a rider so at one with his horse as to appear almost as one entity, truly amazing.

That horse is doing what he was bred to do and loving every minute of it. John Demetris would never have put his horse into danger. The man was great with horses and many many singlefooting horses carry his bloodlines in their veins. He is to be commended in my opinion. Rest in peace John and Rowdy.

The music for this is perfect! Cool horse and rider. Oh to have those dirt roads to ride, now. They’re all but gone from where I grew up.

I tried to reply before but my text broke up into 3 out of order sections. Those dirt roads were at Texas A & M. They were studying the horse and his gait and while there was caught on radar at over 50 mph in that 4 beat gait. This snippet was filmed on 16mm film and someone transferred it to digital media. This horse was world speed racking champion twice, the last time at 14 years old. I could talk all day about the horse and rider, as I knew Johnny well and rode many miles beside him and this horse.

I've been fortunate enough to own one of these horses. She was good, but never as good as this one. I've been aware of this horse for a very long time, but I never got to see him. I'm in total awe of him, and I keep coming back to watch this again and again. I wish my little girl could have racked like this, but if she had, I don't know if I could have ridden her. She could stop just like him too, three jumps to a standstill, and without losing her rider.

Absolutely amazing! Some of the show ring practices of gaited horse owners (chains, weights, soring,etc) are disgusting but this horse looks totally natural, and extremely happy. That rider sits beautifully, too, so kudos to him. I love my Quarter Horses & Australian Stock Horses, but looking at this makes me want a horse that racks.

This kind of horse used to be all over Southern Kentucky, although they've just about died out in the last thirty years to be replaced by Tennessee Walking Horses. They were definitely NOT Walking Horses. They were a mixture of Saddlebreds, Standardbreds, ponys, western horses and probably some Thoroughbred. The all looked just like this. They were fast and surefooted and great for riding down the paths, dirt roads and creek beds that served for roads.

Singlefooters sent shockwaves through the local gaited horse trade about 15 or 20 years ago here but they quickly forgot. I’m proud to have a retired Falcon Rowdy grandson mowing my grass right now.

This horse and man started the best breed of riding horse that ive ever seen. I was raised around gaited horses and i thought we had some good horses,and we did but nothing close to these Rowdy bred. I dont think there is a horse kiving today as smooth,fast,and stylish as Rebel Gold. If you havnt seen that video check it out. Talk about a horse with a head full of since Gold is the ultimate.

Thanks for the info Lucy, I have standardbreds and they are definately not standardbreds but I thought their gait looked a little like the Icelandic horse. I'd be interested in their origin, what breeds they derive from. The look like they just glide along and look comfortable to sit to. They canter and jump too? Very versatile. Maybe we need some in Australia!!

Hi scherryann no this not at all similar to a fox trot i have had and shown foxtroters and racking horses and single footers. if you notice in the video the horse only has one foot on the ground at all times. that is a single foot gait. you can alos hace a 4 beat or a three beat rack depending on the stule and gait of the rack their are so many different variations but a foxtroter still trots and will not rack or single foot withought aid like weighted shoes these do it naturally

Just from my perspective, the grandsons that remind EZD Falcon Rowdy . are : Rowdy Rawhide's Star's Falcon Rowdy & Rowdy Rawhide's Wiley, aka Falcon, There may be others I do not know or did not see. In my opinion It's absolutely distinct , those two are the copy of the original.

That’s tru but there is a big difference between passer standardbreds and trotting Standardbreds the way I look at it if a horse will trot fast they will rack fast if a horse paces there gonna pace two different gates and way I grew up you did not let a horse pace lol it was 4 beat hit or not beat at all

@jaburchfield15 жыл бұрын
If you don't realize that the best singlefooting/racking stock is at least part standardbred, you need to do some more research. By comparison, TWH's are not bred or built to speed rack. For speed racking purposes great TWH's are genetically inferior to average standardbreds.

Curious that you say the rider has bad hands. First of all, the rider has only one hand, so the plural is inaccurate. The horse is poll high with a closed mouth. Exactly what is "bad" about the rider's hand?
