Idk why they change so much minor mechanics from this game that actually make the game fun. In this game, everyone will be slightly slowed down the moment they get shot. Yet in sandstorm, people keep running at full speed after eating a 7.62x51mm to the center mass.

Sometimes I really feel like Sandstorm should've been an almost complete port of 2014 Insurgency to Unreal 4 with some technical improvements (gunplay and weapon details definitely improved a lot) and better graphics.

sandstorm started with good intentions but was eventually seduced by the twitch shooter demographic into oblivion. haven't played INS:SS in about 3 years now the last death knell for me was when they added deathcam, and defended it. 2014 Insurgency is the true masterpiece of a game. sandstorm was supposed to be INS 2014 on steroids, bigger , better, more beautiful and initially it was. until it was whined to death and all the major devs left or quit.

If a team didnt manage to really secure all sides, those horrible spawn campers would ambush an entire spawnwave in seconds. Made it fun cause it got those chokepoints only real stubborn fps grinder would go through xD

Insurgency 2014 (technically Insurgency 2!) will always stand head and shoulders above the sequel to me. Even discounting the performance issues and idiotic Chinese skins in the game, Sandstorm just doesn't feel right to me. The movement and gunplay (i.e. the important part of an FPS) just feels so much more secure and consistent in the Source Engine game.

It's cause your brain thinks way faster than the controls of the game. People mistake this when they develop in order to create "game obstacles". Adding delays and long playing animations in movement scenarios to make it "realistic". In a real life gunfight you have control of everything in your body. Of course it takes time to hurdle over obstacles, control a weapon, and reload. But the problem is that you have 100% control. You know when it is a bad idea to peak a corner etc. When game developers try to mimic this, it feels off because literally playing a video game lowers your control of a situation to 70%. Then when you add more loss of control down to 60% with fancy animations, it feels like you are cheated when you try to do an action. Physics in Car games are a notorious example of this. When you drive a car IRL up and down a hill, your mind is calculating and knows what is going to happen You are 95% sure of what is going to happen.. You are making a strategy to compensate for what is about to happen. Play GTA V, the car bounces and maneuvers in a slightly different path that your mind calculates it will actually go. Anywhere between 10-50% deviation. The worst thing you could do in that case is add a windshield to the screen to make it "immersive", but all you are doing is increasing deviation further. Then the player gets angry because they were trying to move around the enemy to flank them... So they're not able to complete a strategy and the skill of driving a car in game is really up to chance.

I played a ton of this game when it came out and for a couple years after, never seen that shotgun or the mac10 before! This game and the Mod were awesome fun. I like Sandstorm as well, but it for reason hasn't kept me quite as engaged. I wish they would make a new version of Day of Infamy

Im honestly surprised the Insurgents in Sandstorm don't get Kar98s or MP40s, PPsh's and more ww2 guns. The Security forces should also get vanilla HK416/417s, G28s,M27s, M4 blocks etc to give more variety.

This the the best game ive ever played. combat: fast paced yet tactical. smooth game play no bugs. all u need is iron sights not some fkin 4x zoom scope like sandstorm. scopes are picture in picture(whole screen doesn't zoom in) and cannot be changed.

I've not played this. I have played Sandstorm. And while I was excited for the air support, I don't like it anymore. It was cool for a while. This is far better. I used to watch a guy on here play this a lot and it just feels like a better game.

This game beats the shit out of the Insurgency Fortnite. Even though I bearly play these arsenal mods, they are much consistent and well made then that ISMC bullcr*p. Gameplay wise, on the latest installment not only they've added the "show how many rounds" but they've also dulled the recoil to a CoD level.

the Source Engine is so special... its the "FEEL" ... the physics, that is STILL above UE4 some how! hopefully after UE5 shines for a bit we finally get HL3, CS3, DoD3, insurgency 3, and all the other great mods that came from Half-Life, even the lesser known mods like the incredible RTS/FPS Natural Selection

In many ways original Insurgency looks more realistic. Sandstorm looks more animated. Both have appeal, but original has better lighting imo. I have owned original insurgency almost since launch, and I still go back to playing it. Sandstorm being my main title.

I always hated playing Push and am sad that other game modes don't get more love. I absolutely love Firefight and the competitive stuff. Sadly that community is dead (afaik) in the Insurgency games.

I just bought sandstorm and man i couldn't even calculate how disappointed I am, the game at it's core is a diamond but smeared with coal if you get what I mean. + Checkpoint is still one of the best co-op experiences in decades - Fortnite tier cosmetics making enemy / friendly identification a pain - confusing map design - horrible performance and optimization - higher ttk than original ins - wonky hitboxes - retarded balancing ( m14 costs more than a barret .50 cal, Scar mk 17 is cheaper than a short barrel ar-15) - women soldiers (nobody asked for this one) -arabic voices for security making it hard to identify who's is who. -matchmaking, fuck matchmaking.

insurgency source shows better graphics when using low spec pc insurgency source feels heavier and more realistic (ex big recoil) no costumes no weapon skins no cod kids weapon and dizzy weapon attachments, pure original insurgency concept more realistic ai engagement distance

Insurgency 2014 is amazing but probably the worse out of the series by a small bit. Sandstorm has the best weapons and sounds meanwhile Modern Infantry Combat has the best CQC maps and flow, 2014 is like a nice middle ground imo. Shame the original is nearly dead. Sandstorm > Modern Infantry Combat > Insurgency 2014 to me.
