Super Mario Bros. X because the editor is simple and it's easy to figure out. You can make some pretty neat stuff, too. The editor in Super Mario Bros. X2 is a little more complicated but still easy to use.

Infact, Super Mario's Maker "Builder" outfit is actually based on his outfit from Wrecking Crew. Making it an "Obscure" outfit if people didn't know it's origins.

Wrecking Crew was also one of the NES's launch titles, wasn't it? To be honest, some of the earliest computer games in existence were actually printed in magazines that you could type into your computer line-by-line to essentially program it yourself. Being able to just edit the game's code on the fly or make your own levels is actually something that was REMOVED from gaming when it came to dedicated consoles, and these early level editors are, to an extent, a pretty standard compromise for the time.

Fun fact: The Wii Virtual Console actually emulates the data recorder when playing some games, so that's why the virtual console version of some games can save levels from design mode. (Nintendo also mentioned an unreleased data recorder like add-on in the US Exitebike manual

I was obsessed with maker games on cartoonnetwork.com back in 2012 and 2013, when I was only 9. Three years before Mario Maker. If we were more rich, we may have gotten a WiiU and Mario Maker. My newest Nintendo console is the DS Lite. At least I can make games and animations for free and share them using a coding website Scratch.

I spent too many time in these level editors. So ingrained in me than when I look for games in steam, I sometimes type "level editor". Also, there is SteamWork, but that's not really the same. These editors were limited, but simpler. You could do something quickly. Now, we have also construction/sandbox games...they don't use a stylus, but a mouse. it helps greatly ^^

Wow, I didn't know most of these had level editors. The ones I thought of were the "maker-only" game like the Looney Tunes Cartoon Maker for NES. Dezaemon is crazy! I really want to get Fire n' Ice. I have Solomon's Key and enjoy that a lot. Battle City looks awesome. It reminds me of an Intellivision tank game I played once. I've never played Wrecking Crew and actually had forgotten what it was. I think I saw it at the game store earlier this week. Will have to try to get it. This is an amazing video and it's cool to see how far user-created content has come. It'd be interesting to see a video detailing the best user-created content out now too. I know of several games I've played on Steam that kind of blew my mind with the Steam Workshop support.

I think you would have a blast with the Mario fan game Super Mario 63. It's a 2-D remake of Super Mario 64, has a decent level editor, and is completely flash based.

3:29 I mean in SMM we can create music with enemies and note blocks, but that has to be done inside the level, and can’t be is separate thing, if that makes sense.
@BlueTelevisionGames
@BlueTelevisionGames 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah. I’ve made many music levels. But I wish I had an actual music maker to make things easier, cleaner, and not use up item limits.

I've only played the SNES dezaemon and Dezaemon 3D for N64, and I'll have Dezaemon 2 soon, definitely my kind of games The N64 one is fully 3D so you can model and texture your own ships and environments, you can even make cutscenes. though it's impossible to play for me due to the language barrier and because it's in 3D it's extremely complicated and tedious to actually design anything I can't make heads or tails of any of it. It's a cool novelty at least. Bangai-O Spirits on DS had an in depth level editor that was cool, and level sharing is sound based so it still works.
