Il tango di roxanne, celebre opera, resa nota dal film moulin rouge, cantata e suonata dal vivo da un'orchestra dell'est Europa (Al Tango!) il cui tenore (Pior Rafalko) è veramente spettacolare...consiglio a tutti la visione del video e non ve ne pentirete...grazie Jimmy

Este tango pertenece al Maestro Mariano Mores del tango "Tanguera" con pasajes de "Canaro en Paris"de Juan Calderella y Alejandro y Jose Scarpino creo,y encima se le coloco la letra de "Roxanne" de The Police...Tiene un estilo muy a lo piazzolla,la verdad me encanta que se revolucione de esta manera el tango quedo hermoso.Saludos de Argentina,tierra del tango...Felicitaciones!!!

Why is this titled "the original"? The version in Moulin Rouge precedes it by at least 5 years. That would make this "a cover."

+manoskanika m. You're wrong, I'm afraid. This tango was composed by Mariano Mores, an Argentine tango composer who is still alive, he's over 90, and it's originally known as Tanguera. The Moulin Rouge producers used his music, with his permission, in the film and adapted it to the story. You can find the original Tanguera in You Tube.

You will find that both renderings, the one by its author Mores and the one by Sexteto Mayor are superb. Mariano Mores wrote a tango called Tanguera (1955). Sting wrote a song for The Police called Roxanne (1978). In Moulin Rouge (2001) they put together the music from the first one and the lyrics from the second one and call it Roxanne's Tango. Is not that hard to understand.

In fact, El Tango de Roxanne use only the lyrics from the The Police's song. The music is the tango "Tanguera", writen by Argentine composer Mariano Mores (you can find several versions of the original tango in You tube). Anyway, as far as I know the original version of the mash-up is the one used in the movie. This is a very nice version, anyway. But if you are interested in the music, saerch Tanguera - Mariano Mores, there is a beautiful version directed by the composer.

el tango de Roxane esta muy bueno pero no tiene nada de argentino, es una cancion de the police, con algunos elementos de Tanguera de Mores en el arreglo... tampoco que el tango se canta con voz quebrada, Gardel fue una voz cristalina....l a orquesta es un lujo, pero los que comentan en ingles no tienen ni idea de tango.....make me laugh...really!

Que no sólo se ganó unos buenos pesos por lo que hizo, sino que quedó impresionante y es el momento musical mas alto de la Película Amor en Rojo. Entonces. Si el arreglo esta hecho en 4x4, y lo hizo Mariano Mores, si la mitad de la música es una obra de su autoría que se llama tanguera. EL TANGO DE ROXANNE to jeden z najtrudniejszych do zagrania i zwłaszcza zaśpiewania utworów!... Nie każda orkiestra i dyrygent mogą "udźwignąć" jego TAJEMNICĘ. Bo to jest i Niebo i Piekło Miłości na niewielu stronach partytury... No i trzeba umieć zachować DUSZĘ RYTMU TEGO TANGA! Orkiestra SIMFONIA ARTIST pod dyr. KRZYSZTOFA URBAŃSKIEGO to Anioły... a PIOTR RAFALKO to Anioł i Demon w jednym ciele (mieć odwagę zaśpiewania tego Tanga "białym głosem" jako tenor to nielada sztuka!) Nagranie już ma miejsce w Historii jako JEDYNE!... Widziałem dwóch chłopców ze Szkoły Tanga w mojej Portugalii, jak tańczyli właśnie do tego nagrania w deszczowy wieczór dla nas, przechodniów...
