I found their chemistry really good but they rushed things in to season 5 to get rid of it so they could start the spin off besides it was not out characters, they both lived almost a decade without seeing each other of course they could not be as closed as Hayley and Hope were. Young Hope had less chemistry with Hayley than teen Hope. However, i think i heard Joseph on a pannel saying he had easier relationship with kids maybe that's why too
