They are like normal strawberries on crack. They are so sweet, fragant and tasty. My best memories are eating these while being a kid in this region of Chile. You can't find them nowadays. They are super delicate to cultivate, I remember we used to have some plants in my house and they eventually dried out. But really, the strawberries we know don't hold a candle to these. I am trying to find people who still have these plants but no one sells them anymore. At all.

Growing Fragaria Virginia, hope to see you guys sell this plant or seeds one day ! Can't seem to find any reliable sources. I am also growing Fragaria Moschata ( Musk Strawberry) , and some Fragaria vesca seeds from Rareseeds. None have flowered yet because of unusual weather and it killed some of the Musk Strawberries, but they seem to be growing well and should produce well next year. Any idea up to what zones they can survive in ? Pretty interesting to see how different areas have different varieties / landraces of this plant!

@@lennapelayo3252 In my own experience this variety doesn't grow nicely by seed. It has this mechanism that it throws a very long vine away from the main plant. Then, suddenly it grows leaves and roots itself. If you get 1 plant, the plant itself starts sending daughters all over the place. It reproduces like that very fast. As long as they can they throw this vines all over the place and try to make root whenever they can.

Is this the same as pineberry?
@MissCellaneousMovies
@MissCellaneousMovies 5 жыл бұрын
Wikipedia says the pineberry is: "a white strawberry cultivar with a pineapple-like flavor, white coloring, and red seeds." and that they "come from breeding strawberry stocks from Chile (most likely the Frutilla Blanca) and Virginia." The pineberry was first sold commercially in the United States in 2012, but available in the UK since 2010.

I was thinking the same thing at first but the pine berry is much smaller. I wish Baker Creek had seeds for this, I looked and they do not. I wish they would not show this until they had seeds! I will forget about it by the time they have the seeds.
