It is pronounced "wa-lid na-yil", NOT "oolid nail"! The French spelling oulid nail is how they wrote the Arabic words "walid (children) nail (of sandals) I can't make the double dot over the "i" which makes the vowel separately pronounced. Hearing "oolid nail" over and over again makes my skin crawl!!!
