@snailracer52602 жыл бұрын

Yup, in fact I didn't hit up the Quantum Moon before beating the game on my first playthrough because I couldn't figure out how to get into the #$%^ing Tower of Quantum Knowledge lol
@bonogiamboni483010 ай бұрын
@@MamaSymphonia you mean the one on brittle hollow? Same here. *SPOILERS (including the solution)* I literally lucked into it. I was sitting there at the bottom of the tower, trying to figure out any way i could somehow slingshot myself upwards enough using the two gravity walls or if i could do some weird quantum imaging shenanigans to teleport myself up there or make some hidden path appear, when suddenly i started seeing the ceiling get further away and a few seconds later i saw warping in my peripheral vision and then boom, i was all the way out next to the white hole station, along with the quantum tower, so i jetpacked my way there and checked everything i needed to read. I felt like i somehow cheated the system and got cheated at the same time, it wasn't fun like other times where you find an exploit or solve a puzzle. Somehow it felt unsatisfying because it wasn't really the solution that the nomai intended, unlike on the tower at giant's deep. The best part about it is that i was playing while my roommate (who had already beaten the game) was watching, and he told me that figuring out the solution was one of the coolest moments of the game for him so he was incredibly pissed that i just lucked into the solution and even more pissed that i wasn't even happy about it. Actually i lucked into *a lot* of solutions to various puzzles and solved quite a few navigation challenges by going in a random direction and happening to find the right path. My buddy was slightly angry for most of the playthrough, but at least my luck was compensated by my absolute blindness when trying to look for specific things or clues.

Everytime the end loop song runs, I have a feeling in my heart that is very special, because I’ve heard that song so many times in the end loop context. It feels so sad and so beautiful at the same time and you can clearly get how conditioned the brain is to this kind of thing. And they did a fantastic job with this song when you « do the thing » to end the game and then that music theme completely changes and becomes synthwave-ish, because you KNOW that you are doing something important with the universe at this time. It gives me massive goosebumps even months after finishing the game. Oh and, the original was already perfect, but the DLC is even more.

For me, it's the Sun Station. All this time, you're thinking that the endgame is gonna be figuring out how to stop the sun from going supernova, wondering if the Nomai have something to do with its rapid deterioration, but then you get there and you realize that, no, the sun's not being killed, it's just... Dying. There's nothing you, or anyone, can do to stop it. It's soul-crushing, and then, when the realization sinks in of what you have to do... Fuck. As an aside, I love the subversion of the Nomai being a super technologically advanced precursor race who _aren't_ amoral, or even arrogant. They're logic and knowledge-driven, yes, but they still value caution, ethics, and each other. Hell, we even see them flirting with each other and cracking bad puns. They literally did nothing wrong, they're just adorkable scientists, and their extinction is a pure tragedy, not some Icarus-esque cautionary tale.

I'll start this comment with a story: My roommate played (knowing nothing about the game) and the very first thing he did was go to *Dark Bramble and find the campsite.* In a single attempt. It was insane. Anyway, this is the single best review of this game I've seen. Starting off by recommending people go in blind, and then spending a few minutes on the tutorial gives people a chance to bail out if they want to go play. And you emphasize some of the little things that people sometimes miss when going through the tutorial. If I watched this review without knowing a single thing, then I would have gone and bought the game halfway through you talking about the tutorial segment. And then following the up with your _story,_ showing that you truly, deeply grok that essence of Outer Wilds is how each person has their own story of how they played... Wow. I'll link this review to people in the future!

I have played this game, and watched several people play this game. Everytime it finishes I cry, good tears but I cry none the less. Can't wait to see what these guys do next

This game looks amazing. I love space. I took in all the Astronomy /cosmology I could in college. There’s something about learning about the universe that gives you such an awe-some feeling. It literally brings tears to my eyes. Idk why. It’s like the universe is conscious & looking back at itself. Learning. Even just visually it is absolutely stunning. I can’t even. If there are space faring humans one day, they’ll be the luckiest ever.

Thank you sir, saw the disclaimer at the start of the review months ago and was like, "stop, add to wishlist, play later" managed to beat it spoiler free. Fantastic game, so much fun connecting the dots and putting all the pieces together, ending was great, didn't cry at all, nope, not one bit. The whole wish I could forget it and go through it again sentiment is on the nose, fortunately there's still that expansion so I get one more fix.

So when this video came out, i didnt watch it cause you convinced me to try it out! I didnt get it till recently and after finishing the main game i came back to watch this vid to give it a proper view. After playing it probably getting all ship log entries in the base game... its such a great experience. I was genuinely frustrated at certain parts, the sand cutting off places in ember twin was really frustrating as it was the last planet i had to explore, and it took me a time to actually get into the flow of things after the game got such high praise... but once i started gettin into the swing of things it was supremely interesting, and quite satisfying to go from planet to planet uncovering more about this web of knowledge and lore that leads you to the end. Personally, i dont think it reaches the heights that people have raised it to, but i can certainly understand why someone would raise it to such heights... incredible experience, and just a joy to explore in (except dark bramble... we dont talk bout dark bramble... SPECIALLY not the red seeds in dark bramble...) Thanks brick for the recommendation! I havent finished the dlc, as i got kinda burnt out from frustration with trying to get to the last place in the universe to progress the story, but i do very much look forward to that as well, and of course giving that vid a proper view once im done ;)

Every time i hear that banjo theme i tear up, bittersweet tears. Happy at the memory of playing the game, melancholy for the inevitable end of everything and joy for the experience before it, and saddened by never being able to experience the game for the for first time.

This game changed me in so many ways, it was such a beautiful experience. I think I cried three times during my play through. It took me almost 40 hours but I also streamed it on Twitch and had a few hilarious deaths that slowed me down substantially. I wanted to try and 100% it too (which I didn't but that just means I can go back). Also... I need your hoodie please.

I listened at 3:56 I stopped the review, grabbed the game on the summer sale, and now that I've beaten it... I'm still trying to wrap my head around that ending! So, now I've returned... and will watch the rest of the video for the first time.

8:15 Don't forget the Deep Space Satellite, that's also a destination you can lock onto. There's also White Hole Station, I don't think you can autopilot there but you can notice it and fly over. Or fall into it like everyone else.

Great intro! That's definitely how I always felt trying to uncover the last bit of info before the world ended again. I avoided all spoilers and info about the game, and went into it just knowing that everyone loved it, for some reason. I was not disappointed, it's just great, and gets better and better as you play it.

You hit the nail on the head many times, but I want to shout out about your part regarding Fear. Yes, so many of those environments instill a sense of fear, anxiety, or urgency despite the fact that dying doesn't' matter. Amazing game.

The outer wilds is an absolute masterpiece and even the existential dread that comes from dark brambles mere existence can't change that

Thank you Bricky! I decided to heed your advice and bought this game, instantly got hooked and managed to sink almost 17 hours into it over the last three days! Great video and thanks again for the tip. This game and its ending will stay on my mind for a long time.

I am not lying, the outer wilds is the most terrifing game i have played in my life. Not because it's really scary with jumpscares or stuff like that but because of what the game is saying. I feel like no games, not even no man sky, was able to show you the real meaning of being in space like outer wilds did. Space is beautiful but also, the scariest shit ever. My first run of this game was almost like yours but the way i died was because of the supernova when the sun exploded and i remember, i stopped the game, just sat there for 10 minutes and the only thing in my head was " The sun exploded... I died... everything died... ... ... " This game legit gave me an existential crisis XD. Another run, I was stuck in space, stuck in the dark void with no fuel to move, no ship, no planet next to me, so i just had to wait, wait for the sun to kill me. I looked at it, looked at everything, i was looking at the hollow planet getting destroyed by it's moon, looking at the planet hourglass losing more and more water, hearing the music of my fellow spaceman with my radio, and then finally, the end.

I love this game and I will never be able to play it. Not because I already have watched it a couple of times and I know the plot, but because not only am I afraid of heights, I also am afraid of depth.. as in deep space.. or deep water.. it's a borderline phobia that keeps me away from enjoying subnautica as well because I just get paralyzed. It is much more scary to me than any horror game. This is not a critique at the game, I just felt like sharing this it is one of my favorite games to watch. At least I can support the devs by buying the game..
