One thing I wish people would stop doing is calling ourselves "African-Americans", we are BLACK AMERICANS, our culture, traditions and views on WHYTE SUPREMACY is different.

One size does not fit all. There will be no overwhelming agreement in regards to what we ought (should) to be called. There are many divisions within the so-called Black American Community that reinforces the fact that we are not a monolith.

What similarities in particular?

@@TSpartanDRAAVE is usually *very* similar to Appalachian/Deep South dialects. From the drawl, the yalls and aints, dropping the G from -ing. It’s all very tied in. Unless it’s like a New Yorker or Chicagoan, then the speech speeds way up and the enunciations are different, lol.

@@FamigliaMessinaThere are multiple dialects of what is euphemistically called AAVE. Which one of the many dialects of so-called AAVE are you referring to?

@hannahnorman-ostrem1702 It appears that you are conflating an American Southeastern accent with a bona-fide Noir American dialect. That is one of the most popular misnomers about so-called AAVE. A true Noir American dialect is not mutually intelligible with any Blanc American English dialect. The fact that they may appear to be mutually intelligible is directly due to intentional or inadvertent or subconscious code switching to a mutally understood version of English that is not mainstream English.

Interesting. But, who is the dictionary for? For whose benefit?

Not trying to be unhelpful, it's for everyone. One of the key ways you save, preserve and document a language is giving it a dictionary and a grammar (and having it be written or otherwise recorded). In this way anyone in the future doing research on AAE Will have a proper scientific resource there. Anyone who wants to know how their ancestors spoke will have something there.
