Idk if anyone else noticed this, but if you watch this video closely, you’ll notice a very subtle and clever Easter egg referencing the “Pac Man” series of video games. You see, throughout the video Jonii makes plenty of references to the yellow circular arcade game character “Pac Man”. This “Pac Man” character also has a minor role in the “Pac Man” series of video games as the main protagonist. Really cool to see creators put in the effort to hide in these epic Easter eggs!

A few additional factoids that could potentially go onto the iceberg: - While Ninja Gaiden on the NES for a long time was considered to be the first video game with cutscenes, it's generally accepted that Pac-Man was the first game to feature cutscenes, at the time being called "Intermissions" or "Coffee Breaks". - A 2004 episode of VH1's show "Totally Obsessed" features a seemingly obsessive Pac-Man fan named Fred Willard who would play Pac-Man for several hours a day, had a massive collection of Pac-Man memorabilia and even created a mock religion around worshipping him. It was discovered a few years after the episode's premiere that Willard had exaggerated his obsession for entertainment value and while he is a big Pac-Man fan, he is nowhere near as obsessive as his on-screen persona. He a relatively normal guy with a loving wife.

I think it also showed off Subterranean Speedway which was only exclusive to the PSP. Pac Man Fever looks a lot like Shrek Super Party, makes sense that they're made by the same developers

Another random fact that is not in this video so maybe it's even lower: Weird Al Yankovic in 1982 made a parody of The Beatles's Taxman called 'Pac Man'. It being a polka cover of the song with the lyrics changed and SFX from the game used. It was played on the Dr. Demento show a few times but then got a cease-and-desist letter from the song's publisher. It did not get an official release until 2017 when Weird Al released a Rarities album, getting permission from Namco and George Harrison's Estate. Also The Bloodhound Gang song 'Mope' samples the PacMan theme, and is also the source of the Pac-Man on Crack audio skit. I can't find any source that the sample was cleared or licensed by Namco.

36:38 It might have been given the name Cannibal Dash, because the ghosts that are chasing Pac-Man are dressed up in stereotypical 'tribal' costumes, and since it is a (very sad to see) common trope to paint real former tribal cultures as soulless cannibalistic monsters, it might be the main reason why this mini game is named Cannibal Dash! Side note, this was such a EXCELLENT iceberg video!!! The jokes and editing was flawless and I really enjoyed learning a handful of Pac-Man facts that I genuinely did not know! I'd love to see you maybe address other Namco icebergs in the future, such as a Dig Dug/Mr. Driller iceberg, or a ShiftyLook iceburg! @@joniivee I just subbed after seeing your Ms. Pac-Man video now, and dude I’d LOVE to see more Namco content!! 💕 If you do want to research more on ShiftyLook content, I’d recommend using tumblr as I know some files of the formerly lost comics have been saved there, and the Mappy webtoon has been archived on KZbin as well. The canned Time Crisis comic is GENUINELY lost, and it may or may not exist (as some old online interviews said it was in production but was lost after ShiftyLook was shut down) so it’s definitely a mess in terms of learning about the weird yet cool stuff the Shiftylook team has made. 😵💫🤣 I also forgot to mention that the Bravoman webtoon has been archived on here too and exists alongside the Mappy webtoon (and is the reason why the Mappy series has VERY cheap animation) and there’s also a old Bravoman app game and the infamous Namco High dating game as well!

Some other interesting stuff I might add: - A Famicom homebrew port of Pac-Man Championship Edition was developed by a Japanese programmer in around 2008. It was never shared online except for a KZbin video they posted. In 2020 it was upgraded and officially released as apart of the Namco Archives Volume 1 collection. The ROM can be downloaded and run on an emulator or even a real console. It has really well done graphics and sound and is overall an amazing demake. - A Western release of Pac and Pal was planned, which would feature Pac-Man's dog instead of Miru. It never came out. - There are versions of Pac-Man for the Sega Genesis and Super NES which can be played in Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures. They're very similar to the Famicom release, only with slightly upgraded sound and visuals. They're ports which are never really talked about and seem to be completely forgotten. - I actually have the plug and play console with the Pac-Man 256 game on it. It's just a modified version of Pac-Man, where you start with maximum lives at level 255. It's a version of Pac-Man which is completely overshadowed by the game of the same name which is obviously much more popular. - The Famicom port of Pac-Man was released on the Game Boy Advance under the Classic NES series of games. It's pretty faithful to the Famicom version but often goes forgotten due to Pac-Man Collection having a better version of Pac-Man which is more true to the arcade release.

As a kid I was absented with pac man, the main thing I remember was watching ghost adventures and liking it because Pac-Mans parents supposedly died. Yes that’s all I remember from it maybe I’ll try to watch it again kinda scared to

Been enjoying your vids, can’t wait to keep going through. You have a very good voice for video essays tbh. Quick note: at 3:28, you bring up “paku paku” (mouth flapping onomatopoeia) which is パクパク, but use the characters ペコペコ for “peko peko” which is just to be very hungry 😊

Man I’m excited for a potential Pac-Man Fever vid! It’s pretty lackluster playing it now, but my whole family had that memorized when I was a kid. It always got super competitive with me and my dad especially so its probably one of my favorite gaming memories alongside double dash from back when we first got the Gamecube. Pac-Man ended up coloring a lot of my childhood gaming too with all the console and pc games, so overall great video!

Not to be that guy but at 3:27 the Japanese text says ペコペコ(pekopeko) instead of パクパク(pakupaku). Pekopeko is a metallic object bouncing (like a coin dropped to the ground) or a childish way to say that you are hungry, pakupaku is something opening and closing, often a mouth eating or speaking

One thing I'm surprised that nobody has ever done is a first person Pac-Man game. This would add somewhat of a horror element since you wouldn't know when a ghost would jump scare you. I know that there was an unreleased vr thing years ago but someone's gotta go for it.

Some beta elements of Pac Man World Rally that are different are the logo (obviously), little things like the moon in Galactic Outpost being Pac-Man, which wasn't in the final release as someone mentioned, the presence of Subterranean Speedway, and a few things like hud and UI elements being different (take a look at the icons for what position you're currently in in the top left corner for example). Thank you for the great video! Pac-Man really does border on being lost media quite frequently.

The Japanese names of the ghosts are more direct about their personalities. What I've seen is that they translate to "Chaser" ("Oikake"), "Ambusher" ("Machibuse"), "Fickle" ("Kimagure"), and "Stupid" ("Otoboke").

@@joniivee And of course, Im Patient! The Kid (The GZ Guy, i'll call him Little Timmy for no reason) reminds me of one of those cringy KZbin Rants back in 2014 up till 2016. Also, Did you know That There was a Prototype Version of The Original PacMan Arcade Game, i"ve seen bits and Pieces from the Prototype. The one that i still know is the Maze, it has no portal which means theres Dead Ends, no Power Pills & the Maze layout is almost like the 3rd Level in Ms. PacMan but Altered (I believe?) Thats it.
