@TornAlchemist10 ай бұрын
Well in the supernatural universe, archangels were basically one step down below God all while the Pagan gods were, as the video says, basically glorified Tulpas. Humans created the pagan gods because they were unaware of Big G God and then God decided "hey look a scapegoat for all the things that go wrong" and made them real; obviously, he made them weaker than himself, I'm assuming to avoid having someone like Kali walk up and fry him like a turkey - Kali was actually one of the more powerful ones - she was able to choke and almost kill Mercury - and even she did absolutely jack all against Lucifer. To be fair supernatural is a part of the DC universe. Its writing was influenced by Neil Gaimon one if not the most famous DC writers for his depictions of religion and other mythology/philosophical concepts that are explored in his run. Neil Gaimon wrote Divinity like The Presence and the Archangelsas above all their cosmology is beyond even the the very constructs of creation like the Endless. Even when tied back to the Canon Source Material The presence is Spirit and the origin of creation his archangels Micheal and Lucifer are the 2 strongest beings after him. Honestly, it's the most realistic strength feat in the series I was more upset I loved the way they depicted the personalities and mannerisms of the Gods and I wish the writing team had taken more inspiration from the characters from American Gods

In Supernatural the human soul has the power to create, just like God. While this is usually intended as the power of imagination, the ability to create stories, art and so on, but technically even Angels can do that (and they shouldn't). It was never said that the human soul could create 🤷♂️ (although it was a source of power) as far as we know only god and jack can “create” if just any human soul could create then the angels wouldn’t have needed jack to create more angels, they could have just used any old human soul to create them. But since they were cut off from heaven they had to sustain themselves by consuming human flesh or souls (like cronus). These would explain why they can affect things like luck, weather and crops, since they understand the inner workings of the universe? To reply to some of comments, yes there is in universe explanation but the answer seems to be an ass pull. That would explain to why Castiel and Lucifer never mentioned it because the writers haven't decided the answer for those gods yet. What do you think?

My own fanmade take on the origin of the gods, before it was explained in the show, is that after creating Eve and she letting her children lose on the world Chuck noticed that the monsters were getting a bit out of hand so just like he created Eve he created a male counterpart, the Demiurge, to start creating super powered beings, the gods, that would keep the monsters in check. This would work for Chuck since now he doesn't have to waste time on the matter and if something bad happens the blame can be shifted to either the Demiurge or the pagan gods wich will further help him since people would abandon worship of them and turn to him thus busting he's already massive ego. Of course he had to make sure that the Demiurge wasn't as powerful as him in the creation business so he limited he's powers to only able to create gods by using the collective will and desires of whole cultures, humans imagine them a he brings them to life with a few touches of his own. And you could say he was more powerful than most angels but not strong enough against the archangels. And just like Eve he would not but in in human affairs and doesn't mind it when humans like the Winchesters take it's creations out. He infact has gone native and lives the high life either as a tuler of aome country or leader of a eorldwide famous corporation or something.

My God, that would have been perfect! The explanation for the deities is overshadowed by the fact it would have been a perfect adaptation of the Demiurge. 6:23 an interesting angle that could have been would have been how The Sandman handled it, with, while capital G God is the real creator, but even he was shaped through the belief of humans, in this case through Dream of the Endless, despite God being above the Endless. Or kinda, the Endless are seemingly not God's creations, but a byproduct of there being things that exist. Death was apparently waiting before the first living thing came to be, but is also the daughter of Time and Night. but theyre basically not on the same cosmic hierarchy

Fun fact: a being, force, or principality created through belief is called an "Egregore" in real world mythologies. They are sustained through worship and belief and cease to exist when belief isn't given. It's actually incredibly interesting when you get into the concept of it😂 Also, I love that they used the Marvel Mjolnir silhouette😂😂😂 Also, who else absolutely gasped when we found out that not only do Sam and Dean have fans, but some of their fans ship them😅😅😅😅

Loki is also a Jotun, a Frost Giant. For all we know, Jotun is what the Norse gods called in the angels in the SPN universe, which would make Heaven Jotunheim.

Tbh I just thought of this when you brought up the in-universe Supernatural books from Chuck... Do the other hunters not know about the book series? Maybe chuck being a "prophet" who became a writer might have been common knowledge? Otherwise, I would have to think the other hunters would HAVE to find that odd that some random writer somehow knew about everything with them and whatnot

I wept when American Gods didn't get renewed for more seasons. After Ian McShane's glorious stint playing a saloon owner in "Deadwood," suddenly he was in everything. While incredibly talented, this doesn't mean he's right for all roles and if the story is weak, no actor can save it. In any event, they finally found a new vehicle for him in the form of American Gods where he was again glorious. There were quite a few other stand-outs including Pablo Schreiber, Ricky Whittle, Emily Browning, Crispin Glover, Orlando Jones, and others. There was even red-hot s__ scenes, both het and gay. Just remarkable all around.

Clearly you aren't familiar with Norse mythology. Fenrir was a giant wolf born from Loki and the Jotunn ,Angrboda, the giantess. Sleipnir was an 8-legged horse that Loki gave birth to after shapeshifting into a female horse to make with Svadilfari, a stallion owned by another Jotunn. It became Odin's steed and was described as the best of all horses which he would sometimes ride to Hel). He also birthed Narfi (Nari), Vali, Hel, and the ouroboros Jormungandr.

Also still mad at how dirty they did my girl Artemis. Never bringing her up again was one thing, but having her FALL IN LOVE WITH A DUDE… too far 😔 no but genuinely having her prime motive for turning on Zeus being love just makes it seem like they did no research into her actual mythology at all.

I always thought the reason the gods where eating people was because they were not getting worshiped any more and that was how they survived. Case in point Zeus is still pretty popular in modern times from movies and at that time Norse gods didnt get the Marivel treatment, so he actually still had some power.

Somebody shoulda given the writers American Gods so they could understand why Odin and the Pagan Gods couldve been really interesting and threatening villains despite being in decline. But that book is also the only one Ive read that understands Odin mythologically. Bro is straight up devious and diabolical in that book.

God-begotten monster with the Loki's kids, I think they're hybrids of monsters and deities. Fenrir would b half werewolf. Artemis fanbased whithered in Supernatural, probably bc she's suppose to b a virgin forever. Looks like she was saving herself for the right guy, but he lost his memories and died.

I’m almost certain there was a Halloween episode where the monster of the week was the pagan god…..I wanna say Samhain? (Yes I know it’s a holiday, but often holidays are named after deities). I remember it was Halloween because towards the end Sam smeared blood in his face to play dead, b/c this pagan deity couldn’t see that well, which is apparently where Halloween masks come from.

I wish the show explained where the pagan gods go when they die. We know where humans, monsters, angels, and demons go when they die, but where do the pagan gods go?
@mikesmoviemadness2410 ай бұрын
My guess is they also go to the empty like demons and angels do, I doubt they are able to go to heaven or hell since they don’t technically have souls. But if they are more monster than god, it’s possible they go to purgatory.
@razenhell972110 ай бұрын
Personally I think what would better if is they had their own realm like a Divine Realm and all the gods go there and that basically their souls are like super nukes and had special place to lock them away because if someone got their hands on that it would make them so unbelievably powerful and could risk the destruction of creation itself.
@holybilly30664 ай бұрын
Honestly, I feel disappointed by how they handled the gods. It might be a bit of a hot take but I think it would've been cool if Chuck was the same as the rest of them, being just another god whom makes claims that he made and rules over humanity and the reason why his beliefs have more power and credence would be a result of him having more living followers, with the true powers that made the multiverse remaining a mystery even at the end of the events of supernatural. Maybe even a brief one line voice from a mysterious entity to jack whom took the powers of 2 incredibly strong beings bringing some wisdom to his power but taking no questions
@d3gener8e696 ай бұрын
being imaginative beings brought forth by god sounds cool, but the whole time I myself, imagined the Pagan gods being fallen angels, having lost their grace, and creating their own beliefs to consume humans, first as a middle finger to god, by eating his prized creation, and second by regaining the grace lost by consuming the creations of god, in hopes of being forgiven to be able to return to heaven.
@Atmatan9 ай бұрын
Most pagan religions were monist, which means they recognized the existence of a singular creator God, but only worshipped or interacted with manifestations of it in forms the human mind could comprehend. There is no issue with the existence of Chuck alongside lesser deities.

Anything not described in Christianity and pagan. They considered the worship of nature as paganism ... And kaki as an embodiment of nature itself is the perfect pagan god example in the series. This is how the show disrespects all religions subtly and most modern guys/gals don't bother understanding this.

The way I imagine it is that gods get power based on how many people follow their religion but that power is divided among their pantheon… so a pantheon like Hinduism would which has at least 33 gods would be weaker then the abrahamic god which is the lone god of 3 different religions (Christianity, Islam, & Judaism) and because Christianity is the most popular of the three it’s the one that’s “in charge” of the universe at the time the series takes place
@coop-likes8 ай бұрын
So the hindu gods would have the power of 36 million people each (and might be weakened by the Buddhist beliefs making them mortal) whereas the abrahamic god and by extension Lucifer would have the power of half of all humans (~4 billion)
