Hi, thanks for this, such a tragic event. I was in Paisley yesterday and stopped to look at the monument in honour of the young lives lost 😢. It stands on one of the triangular lawns in Dunn Square, beside the river and the town hall. Thanks again. Cheers, Don 👋

My dad lost a younger brother in this tradgedy, dad couldn't go as he was working in the mills that day.

Such an insightful, but thoughtful account of the tragedy. I'm born and raised in Paisley and remember my Grandmother telling me about this. It must have been awful for those poor kids. It's a tragedy that Paisley will never forget. Thank you for taking the time to make this, it's more appreciated than you may realise. ❤🙏 P.S. The Paisley witch trial would be a good slice of history, that would fit nicely into the historical theme of your channel.

Come on now, if you don’t want anyone sneaking in to watch a movie for free, then put someone to guard that door, don’t lock it. Locks can be picked quite easily.

This was such a sad story to hear. 😢 Those wee kiddies up against a door that opened the wrong way, then locks on gate. Ironic the earlier fire inspection didn't think the locks were a problem.😳 At least some good safety changes were implemented because of it. I enjoyed my Saturday mornings at the cinema when little. Another well told part of our history, thanks. RIP 🙏 all those lost. 😔🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Hi and thanks, Scotland's History for sharing. This is such a disastrous incident and children were always victims. I cannot imagine how much sorrow wrapped up this town. I think parents who lost young loved ones from this event really wanted justice, so they could cope with their losses. Thank you so much for bringing up this history. WEll done.🙋‍♀🙋‍♀🛶🛶

That's right and it took many yrs for monument to be erected almost forgotten the only memorial is a small plaque beside the piazza many kids suffered I'm sure there's a memorial at hawkhead cemetry

There is, and there's a memorial at Dunn Square which was unveled for the 90th anniversary. It was such a massive loss for the community, but it's good it's still remembered. Thank you so much for watching.

Traditionally, the house gets cleaned from top to bottom on Hogmanay in Scotland as it's unlucky to do any housework on New Year's Day. Thank you for watching.
