I’m 22 and wish their LP was on Spotify. Also, nice Frances the Mute profile pic. There’s a lot of underrated post-punk stuff- great British flavor.

Just today I was listening to Pacific Street, which I’ve done dozens of times, and I cried for a future that could have been but perhaps was never meant to be.

Their lyrics….when you listen intently is insightful and poetic simultaneously. That is one of the reasons why The Pale Fountains’ music is pop-new-wave plus art. Music that embraces a modest demographic but…but the appeal is enduring and unforgettable!

I had forgotten just how many great songs PF did. Very overlooked.

I remember seeing them live at the Lyceum theatre around 1984 supporting Orange Juice, the show was opened by Black also from Liverpool. The pf were unique, the LP was quite orchestrated, the songs were stripped down to the basics with live trumpet 🎺 and still sounded golden. OJ were cool and funky and this was the best gig to witness in London in 1984. 🎸

Other bands of that era got the headlines and attention but for me The Pale Fountains made much better music, Pacific Street is still an album right up there in my go to list, with so many decent bands coming out of Liverpool in the 80's and 90's it easy to miss a few really good ones like this and another personal favourite of mine Thomas Lang

Què he de fer? He trobat una manera?

Does anyone know the title of the film this video is taken from ? It looks like Paris from about 1960, and that super cool girl with her short hair is an absolute peach, the kind of thing Mods were into around that time.

Thanks for the confirmation of the films ID Max, I see on IMDB Jean Seberg died in 1979, she''d of only be about 41 at that time. Notice how I got the date right !

Analysis is a little bit silly. Michael is one of the best composer that has ever been, to call PALM OF MY HANDS elevator music is stupid ...You write with the "reason" not with the heart..Really, There is something in your mind?
