I was in my church choir as a teen and adult, we sang this every Palm Sunday. I miss singing it. So glad I found it, I sang along. It brought back good memories and tears to my eyes.

Sang this in our Methodist Church at age 14 as a solo. My dad, music, teacher, help me with the breathing and the correct way of singing this song. Years ago I found this arrangement and now that I’m 70 years old and my father has since passed., and brought tears to my eyes. Tears of longing to see my dad again and tears of joy, as I was reunited with this song.

@@briankreis7447 I was raised in the United Methodist church also. That's a great thing to sing a solo, especially these old hymns. The church has since closed. But, like you I have fond memories of everyone there. My parents and family who went there are gone as well, I'm 66. Next week I'll sing the Old Easter Anthem. Best wishes for a Blessed Easter.

Bravo! The whole world should first read this text and then have a guided study of it. Then the whole world should not only hear, but also see this exact performance. Come quickly, Lord Jesus!

That's a lovely idea. We sang this at a cousin's funeral a few years ago. I didn't know before then that it was her favorite hymn. Now I think of her whenever I hear it.

Wow! This brings back fond memories of my childhood. The adult and children's choirs sang this every Palm Sunday. Even as a child, I was moved by this song.

For me also! Our "Cherub" Choir sang this many Palm Sundays at First Baptist Redlands CA in the '50's.

It is Palm Sunday in 2022 as I write this. Our pastor told us that Christ's entry into Jerusalem on a donkey was a subversive act against the Roman occupiers, who allowed people in those lands to worship as they wished, but felt Passover was a dangerous holiday for their rule.

Jean Baptiste - Faure was a baritone! Quite noted in his day! Not a tenor. He did sing many operatic roles. He also composed some really fine music!

It is in C major!! You are correct. The person who posted this couldn’t find a score of it in C major so did the best he could. He found a score in a lower key. Then posted it. Simple as that.

The score shown is not the score performed. The SATB score could not be shown with the accompaniment. Therefore, we see the melody and the accompaniment offered.

This is a perfect tempo for the space , and it is andante maestoso!!! Check your metronome!!!! Let me hear your tempo as a comparison, then we have something to debate! Also, if your choir has a comparable rendition. This choir at HC had a treble sound basically being 5th- 8th grade kids!!! Built over time and tradition! If you can duplicate that , then we have a starting point to even start a debate! Otherwise, you are full of beans!!!!!

You also need to correct your English grammar. Too is the appropriate word you needed when referring to tempo! Too fast or too slow. However, this tempo was fine for the space it was performed in. Enough said!

The choir boys slowed down enough at the part of the chorus where it says “largo.”
