Nick did a good job of trying to derail him from his pre-rehearsed lines, it's a difficult job but Robot Rishi always comes across like a soundboard. Hearing him bullshit about immigration is so frustrating, if they were to have an adult conversation all leaders would say immigration is excellent for them as it props up GDP, sadly this opens the door for unserious parties like reform to fill the gap and have this cost benefit conversation with the public. His whole premiership has been about taking a really bad figure and saying it has improved a little, no shit your immigration numbers are down because you ain't taking thousands of people from Ukraine/HK every year, inflation is down because inflation is down globally and outside of public spending you don't have any control of Bank of England measures, you didn't do anything. As always with Rishi the Sky is purple and don't tell me it's blue

@@morsmagne Having hope for the future is fine but considering the Tories have cut public services to the bone (outside of protected dpt like NHS), the idea that Reform would find $50 billion in efficiency savings from "government waste" without impacting frontline services is bonkers. While I agree we can't carry on as we are, any major structural changes cause massive pain points that have to be taken into account. You have to be careful about anyone telling you the things you want to hear, especially from Farage, there is always a cost to be paid by someone.

I don't want Sunak (or the Tories) in power at all, but my God Farage is no better. I'm surprised he managed to find his way out of Trump's colon just in time to jump into the spotlight in this election, but then again he cannot bear to be out of the media for long. His whole shtick is about a cult of personality and he is absolutely only in it for himself, despite his laughable 'man of the people' nonsense. He relies on racist dog whistles and flashy showmanship to dazzle and con the working classes into thinking that immigration is the source of all their problems - peddling easy answers to very complex issues. He's also a hypocrite, banging on about disrespecting our WW2 veterans would maybe mean more had he not once spoken at an event for German neo-nazis.

This interview very clearly demonstrates one of the main reasons that our country is in such a mess. The big media organisations either give these Tories (including Starmer and his clique) a more or less free pass, or as in the BBC, are just completely hopeless and toothless. Why did Nick Robinson not press Sunak as to how his D-day "mistake" came about? Who precisely was it that made the decision for him to scuttle back early to the UK to record an interview with ITV, exactly when was that decision made, and for what reason? Let's have the full facts, but no, we won't get any such interrogation from a BBC interviewer. And then he just allows Sunak again and again to trot out the same lines - migration is coming down, taxes are coming down, and spending is going up - with the most pathetic attempts to rebut or challenge these fantasy politics. One thing is absolutely certain - after 4 July, nothing will change and in large part that is because we have a mainstream media that is stuffed with people like Robinson, Kuenssberg etc who are utterly incapable of holding any government to account. There is no hope.

The Establishment are BANKING on people becoming despondent, hopeless and lethargic, And I agree with your basic premise that, we’re not gonna get even one iota of hope or change from the next twat who comes into No.10, But we have each other. In the UK, we have to be willing to talk to people we disagree with, form new coalitions, put pressure on our leaders at a local level, There’s always hope, just not in the places you’d expect 🙏
@JohnSmith-cj2sq
@JohnSmith-cj2sq 3 ай бұрын
@@toberlorone01 Thanks for that reply. My own view is that in order to see any real positive change in the UK, there needs to be some quite fundamental and structural changes to the political system. 1. We need to change from FPTP to PR. 2. The way political parties are funded needs to be radically overhauled, and most importantly in this respect, 100 per cent transparency is essential. 3. MPs need a carefully worked out job description and they should not be allowed to do any other job while they are an MP, full stop. 4. The House of Lords needs to be replaced with something that isn't massively overstocked with the government's cronies and benefactors. Whenever these kind of reforms are mentioned, the defenders of the status quo, i.e. those who benefit from it, dismiss them as trivialities that the public have no interest or very little interest in. But I couldn't disagree more. Until these kind of changes are made, our politics will remain as the stinking swamp inhabited by hideous reptiles that it currently is. There are some decent MPs, just not enough of them, and under the current arrangements, they have zero chance of being allowed into positions of real power.

I thought something similar at the Sky Leaders interview, why not press the issue. Problem is you can spend 10 / 20 mins asking about the same issue and all you would get is the same pre-programmed lines and with so much failure to discuss and so little time, best to move on
@JohnSmith-cj2sq
@JohnSmith-cj2sq 3 ай бұрын
@@davidellis1355 Exactly. All these presenters do is allow politicians to waffle on an on, regurgitating the same tediously predictable party lines without getting anywhere near the heart of the issues. They (the presenters) are simple not up to doing the job they are supposed to do, although of course the management and teams behind the scenes are also completely to blame for this. Reform and improve politics? Sure. But I can't see that happening without massive reform of the media, the so-called fourth estate. And nobody in the mainstream discourse even mentions this, and certainly not the so-called "Reform" party with their stomach-churning champions in some of the very worst parts of the media. There is no hope.
@JohnSmith-cj2sq
@JohnSmith-cj2sq 3 ай бұрын
@@toberlorone01 Just one other point. It is not news that globally, we are, and have been for a long time now, thoroughly trashing the planet and it's life support systems - e.g. the atmosphere, its waterways and oceans, its ecosystems and biodiversity, the soil that produces our food etc. And of course we are also pushing the process of climate change in a very, very dangerous way. If we continue doing all of this as we are, at some point we will reach and cross a very real breaking point. There is a very real possibility that human "civilization" as we know it will collapse. This problem is nowhere near the top of the political agenda. And above all else, until that changes, and indeed it could already be too late, there is no hope. Sticking plaster politics? Nah. It's the politics of an ostrich, a deaf dumb and blind one at that.

I genuinely don't understand how the most successful politician in the country (he's the only one who's got the job and is prime minister after all) is so awful at politics. It would be like the UK's best carpenter not owning a saw. As far as I can tell, as the liars won the brexit debate, they then had to get rid of all the tories that were somewhat sane from the other side of the argument, and what we are left with is the dregs. When friends of mine have children now, I have the feign enthusiasm and support because I just can't fathom how a young person can make any sort of life for themselves in the UK. Even the top 10% of earners now can't afford a working class lifestyle from 30 years ago, let alone a middle class lifestyle. You really do need to be in the top 5% to have an old fashioned middle class lifestyle. it's insane. Good luck if you can't afford private medical cover. I hope whatever government is next can improve things, but my fellow countrymen, this is going to be a long and hard road. Please think carefully before voting, because as bad as things are, I fear they could still get worse if this lot are given another chance.

Mel Stride has the unenviable job of the sole Tory MP, to defend Sunak's policies. When the D Day disgrace of Sunak sodding off, was raised in every interview Stride did, repeatedly said Sunak had apologised unequivocally. I have no idea what that's supposed to mean. It's the same with others defending the PM, using reservedly. An apology, when made, is the only word required. Unless you want to modify it by saying the apology isn't completely sincere. What a miserable, abject, person Sunak shows himself to be. In every interview, one-to-one, or to journalists, including this one, he tries to distract from a question, with a repetition. He has no instinct, or imagination, to answer with a different form of distraction.

The fact that Rishi thinks there are only two options is laughable, while it is true that for far to long only Conservative or Labour get in power with the other parties just there for show Reform UK should be taken as a main contender and not just dismissed. I am not proud of the fact that many people my age (50) and older have memories like a gold fish and tend to vote the same way no matter what, if you want change you must vote for a change and since I actually do remember the past I know that Conservative and Labour are bad at the job and I would rather hire someone new and give them a try rather than knowing it will fail. On the fact twisting side it is easy to make it look like something has reduced when you first increase it eg: Bread is £1 I put the price up to £4 then I reduce it to £2, I can now say I have lowered the price of bread by £2 which is true but since it was £1 its still increased from what it was. They can say people are earning more money but since everything in life has increased more than wages people have less money. LASTLY during Covid they spent so much money that it will take 40+ years to pay back and trying to claim they HAD TO DO IT or they did it to help people lets not forget that it was their actions that caused the debt, from the start we knew it mainly affected the elderly so there was zero reason to lock everyone up and close the country so it was their actions that caused to debt and now they try and make out like they did a good job.

Uk please vote for Rishi Sunak He might have mismanaged a few issues but he is wise genuine and full of substance and future potentials.He will take Britain to great heights,he is promising.Intelligent he knows his economics and politics so well versed at such a young age.Unlike Sir strammer who is hollow dull equipped only with degrees and qualifications.Rishi Sunak is very bright he's sorry for blundering he's young he has political will and knowledge unlike sir strammer.sir strammer might be a good human being but he lacks political acumen and motivation,leadership skills and statesmanship which is their in rishi sunak.please vote for him ,forgive him,and give him another opportunity. He deserves it.he has the ability to become a world leader.he has vision plans and political will.he is a great leader in making.a true son of the soil loaded with abilities and capabilities.iam full of awe for him.Sir Stammer will prove to be a weak and feeble prime minister.
