I'm not sure if he sings solo in any other Paper Kites songs, but he did write the track A Lesson From Mr Gray on the States album from 2013. Prior to Paper Kites, Dave was in a ska band, Sounds Like Chicken, where he also played guitar, sang, and co-wrote. There's a bunch of their songs here on KZbin where you can hear and see Dave performing.

Saw this live in Manchester the other night. To say it blew everyone’s socks off is an understatement. Especially coming after a lot of more mellow tunes. The vintage Fender amps were loud, the band were super tight and the engineer had the mix perfect. Very organic full and punchy sound. Amazing, I’ll never forget it!

Man, I absolutely LOVE this song. It's already on my repeat list. This is one of those songs where you take a drive either early morning or at sunset, along the beach or coast, windows rolled down and sunglasses on, and just JAM! The guy who was in the crowd recording and grooving with his grooving/jamming out face, is totally me when I listen to this song. Great one guys! SO excited for the Album here next week😆👏🏾

People keep commenting on how this is “genre bending” for the paper kites, and I might agree if all you’ve heard was bloom and some other songs on their recent albums, but their first two albums had some some amazing atmospheric “rock” vibes that I’ve been waiting for them to return to.

@@jamesroberts6376 - You're not wrong per se (I think up tempo is a more suitable word), but the songs that came to mind are "In Reverie," "A Lesson From Mr. Gray," "Woke Up From A Dream," "Revelator Eyes," "Electric Indigo" and "On The Corner Where You Live." There is a "grittier" element to this song (the way he's singing, the vocal harmony, tempo etc.) that I do agree feels a little more "rock" than most people anticipated I guess (reminds me of Tom Petty tbh). Regardless, I'm looking forward to this album for sure. In fact, I'll be seeing them live in November!

I am loving the paper kites!! The new generation of Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty & Heart. They give us decent mellow rock chill but this song they have shown us they also have to some bluesy grit & can rock! I also appreciate the lyrics in all of their songs tell a story, the wording in they're lyrics always inspiring, giving a message, somthing we can relate to that makes sense & you can understand all the while crafted poetically. This to me are genuine qualities of true music musicians. They could work on they're stage performance however they're a bit too still but so sweet. How I'd love to create a music video for this one! I hope they come perform in Washington state some day 🎉❤
