One of the greatest times of my life. I have so much gratitude for having lived those years at the Garage.

Ok so I am going to keep it real. Take it from a DJ...the one of a kind system is what made the club. Larry complimented the experience with great song selection. The 1st time I stepped up that ramp (1977) with my DJ partner, we said "WTF are they using?" You could play a track on that sound system and grow to like it. lol. Too bad pills like X ruined the underground clubs like this. Too many EMS trucks called to various clubs. Trust me it would still be going on. These clubs saved numberous lives and would be keeping some of this generation off of social media and on the dance floor. Big up to all clubs from the past: The Loft, Danceteria, Better Days, Buttermilk Bottom, Zanzibar, Snob busters, Second Floor, Trax. I would not trade the decades of dancing every weekend. I am grateful. Love saves the day.

Never once di I myself see an ambulance parked in front of Paradise Garage. Not once. Never once did I see any violence at the Paradise Garage. Not once. And I went to the Paradise Garage from February 13th 1981 til it closed its doors in September of 1987

@@eddymorales152 Ok let me clarify. Read again. If I told you I stepped in there in 1977, OF COURSE there weren't any EMS trucks outside. Not one argument or dispute and I spent every weekend in the aforementioned clubs. I'm a part time bouncer and people started taking E, K, GHB etc after Paradise closed and the marshals started coming to all clubs and closing them down in the middle of the morning. So THAT'S what a mean by pills ruining the future of clubbing. If you went to King st. you know that the punch had...ahem...stuff in it. But everyone conducted themselves properly. It was about everyone under the sun, from all walks of life partying 'til the afternoon.

NOTHING stopped The Garage !!!!!!! Except the 10 Year Lease expired and AT&T wanted that space back …… The city was starting to come back and the value of that part of the city was going up like CRAZY !!!!!! I started going in late 1980 until the month it closed down !!!! I knew I would NOT make it to the final weekend so I did the Labor Day Weekend …… EASILY the BEST club I ever went to 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

THE MUSIC RIGHT AT THE START WAS CALLED "LOVE MONEY" BY THE FUNKMASTERS FROM LONDON, ENGLAND -1980 - THATS WHY IT WAS SO HARD TO GET FOR MANY USA CLUBBERS AND USA RECORD BUYERS, A BIG AND HUGE TUNE WITH THE UNDERGROUND CLUBBERS HERE IN THE UK AT THE TIME, IT WAS "NOT" A BIG NATIONAL POP CHART. BUT ANY DISCO OR UNDERGROUND CLUB THIS TUNE WAS MASSIVE.........

I remember the first time I played this at Club Sensations in Newark, NJ. The dance floor went crazy. Still a banger to this day.

@@johnpetty3574 Yeah the last time i saw where the old Club Sensations was, it was partially torn down and fenced off. I believe they said that space was going to be a parking garage.

The Paradise Garage entry ramp in its heyday circa 1981 when I first came to it must have been a portal because you were about to take a ride with Levan at the helm. It's unfortunate that there is so little video of the dancing cliques, the garage star chlidren, and the costumes.

In the scene where you see Larry mixing (Victor Rosado standing on Larry's right) , he's mixing Jeanette Thomas - Body into Happy Song and or Dance by Rare Earth (Extended Edit), a few years ago i found a copy of the Rare Earth original song and i see why it's edited, while a cool song to listen to, it's not a danceable tune . And in the next clip, he is playing How Soon We forget by Col. Abrams.

I remember LOVE MONEY was Sooooooooo Hard to get, you were considered a Dj ahead of your time if you had this record...... RIP MICHAEL NIX , one of my day ones , we use to run around 1980's Newark NJ together , finding action and adventure,. See you on the other side bro. Peace.

@phuturelee3420 Жыл бұрын
@@johnpetty3574 I got it at back in the 80's at a record convention at the Vanderbilt Hotel, NYC. Dj's were selling vinyl, etc. The real heads were listening to the flip side (money no love-Bo KOOL). So that was truly a great buy. Fun fact: It was the same day I got a promotional copy of Sting's "If you love someone (set them free)" at a reduced price from the legendary Joe Causell. I worked for him down the road.
