Approximately 300 B.C. Prehistoric Indians entered the Salt River valley. They developed an extensive canal system. The Park of the canals preserves about 4,500 feet of ancient canals. The National Geographic Society of Civil Engineers has awarded the Hohokam canal system an award for excellence in prehistoric engineering. The park is open from sun up to 10 p.m. This park is a hidden secret in the middle of Mesa Arizona.

Thanks for the video. My family worked the canals in the 1870's. My Great grt grt Grandfather Danial Webster Jones was the leader of the wagon train that settled in what became Lehi and Mesa.

GREAT Video! THANK YOU for your research and doing a video on this area. There is a metal panel in the Park of the Canals of the people who worked on the canal or donated to the project. If anyone is from the Mesa/Lehi area, you should go see it, if they left it up standing, your grandparents names might be listed on it! 4 of mine are listed on the panel! Fun to see!

The Huhukam Indians didn’t leave. The Pima Indians are the modern day Huhukam. Reservation is south by Casa Grande. Nice video!

Wow he made this place seem cool. I mean I guess it is with the cool bike rides. But it is so hot when me and my friends go out there. And it is kinda boring just going by the playground. Idk me and my buddies just mess around at this park. I only go here for the bike rides and just chilling with my friends.

Haha and also me and my friends just mess by the canal. Never really thought much of it as it was just a canal. But then SRP got mad at us for “destroying Indian property” and we didn’t even touch the canal. Except for crossing over it when we had to go to the other side

It is off the trail, And double fenced off. It is a super old house in the back built with stones and old wood and foundation may be concrete but if you look close it's of the time ...

@@arizonatimelesstourist846 there simply isn't enough historical facts... when I was a young kid I want in there. It was a mess whole bunch of Arizona documents scattered all over the floor... but that was over 20 yrs ago.
