I recently finished Banana fish and it completely broke me. I feel as if all the trauma and chaos that ash experienced, having to watch a little kid die, having to kill his best friend, having to leave his father behind and die, his brother dying, being raped and sexually assaulted countless times, never feeling safe, always having to be cautious of his surroundings, fighting all the time and killing so many people that it all led him to finally meet someone that loved him for him and stayed by his side, the one person who didn’t want anything in return, Ash thought of it as enough and when he got stabbed by Lao he took it as a sign that him and Eiji were just never meant to be together although they were soulmates. He knew that him dying meant Eiji is safe, and he didn’t want anybody to ever dare touch Eiji. So he went back to the library and let himself bleed out until he died. He died peacefully, knowing that there won’t be any more fighting and killing.

omg in this video I can see the "life" of ash that was always difficult even now it is but then and Eiji arrived that made Ash change his mind, he can only trust him because he was the only person in the world who he asked him nothing in return, but Eiji let him go for his own good, but in the end he was surprised because you show the final scene of the last episode so dramatically, when Ash thinks that the only right thing he has done besides "stopping" banana fish it was saving eiji, then the author says that the letter Eiji wrote saved the soul of ASH, I really liked the video, thanks for editing it

it was meant to happen. if ash went to the hospital he would be arrested, if he went to japan he would too. he also felt he had too much blood on his hands to live normally and didn’t think eiji deserved to be with a “murderer”. for him death was welcoming and he was content since he knew eiji was safe and would be with him. i think it was meant to happen because he was able to die happy and in love.
