About the chant:
The Paschal troparion or Christos anesti (Greek: Χριστὸς ἀνέστη) is the characteristic hymn for the celebration of Pascha (Easter) in the Eastern Orthodox Church and those Eastern Catholic Churches which follow the Byzantine Rite.
Like most troparia it is a brief stanza often used as a refrain between the verses of a Psalm, but is also used on its own. Its authorship is unknown. It is nominally sung in Tone Five, but often is sung in special melodies not connected with the Octoechos. It is often chanted thrice (three times in succession).
----
This chant is chanted by Valaam Monastery choir
----
Chant text:

The Lord Jesus Christ paid for the sins of the world 2000 years ago, but you must receive him as your personal Saviour (John 1:12-13) for that payment to apply to you. This happens at the same moment you are "born again" (John 3:3). This happens at the same moment you are baptized and sealed with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:12-13, 1 Corinthians 12:13). You must be born again! Sacraments do not save anyone. The ordinances of water baptism and communion are physical pictures of spiritual truths, nothing more. In John 6, the Lord Jesus Christ is contrasting physical bread with spiritual bread. He says “Your fathers did eat manna (physical bread) in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which cometh down from heaven (spiritual bread), that a man may eat thereof, and not die.” Eating the Eucharist (physical bread) does not save you. Only receiving Jesus Christ (spiritual bread) by faith as your Saviour saves you (John 1:12-13). Jesus goes on to say “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life” (John 6:63). Jesus says he is speaking about the spiritual words, not about some fleshy piece of bread that you have to keep eating repeatedly. This is the same concept we find in John 4 when Jesus talks about living water. Jesus tells the woman at the well “Whosoever drinketh of this water (physical water) shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him (spiritual water) shall never thirst” (John 4:13-14). I speak the truth to you in love. If your salvation rests upon a piece of bread you get every Sunday and some water that your parents had sprinkled on you as an infant, then you are headed for Hell. You must be born again and receive the Lord Jesus Christ as your own personal Savior. Salvation comes through faith in the shed blood on Calvary of Jesus Christ alone. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.” - Romans 3:23-28 KJV

@@RealBobEvans Go easy my man. Polycarp, Irenaeus, John Chrysostom, Origen, Athanasius, et al. did things very differently than 21st century American evangelical Protestants (which is how I grew up). We have a lot to learn from the sorts of Christian faith that go back to pre-1517.
@RealBobEvans
@RealBobEvans Жыл бұрын
@@fartknockerR17 Humans, teachers, churches, history, and priests can all be wrong, but the Holy Bible cannot be wrong. Even back in the days of Jesus, Paul, and Jude there were men perverting Scripture to teach wrong doctrine. So certainly there was rampant false teaching by the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th centuries. "But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men." - Matthew 15:9 KJV "For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ." - 2 Corinthians 2:17 KJV "For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ." - Jude 1:4 KJV So if the Holy Bible clearly teaches something, that is what you need to believe. Regardless of what some church teaches or what some so called "church fathers" may or may not have believed.

actually they aren't really similar What sets Christianity from all other religions, is that other religions is you work to get achieve paradise But in Christianity, it's God has done all the work on the cross, you just need to repent and put your trust in Jesus. Other religions say go towards God But Christianity is God goes towards you. Believe in Christ as your lord and savior, repent. You'll be saved from God's wrath (we are all sinners, deserving judgment, hell. Jesus paid the price on the cross so we can be saved) Christ's blood is strong enough to clean all your sins in an instant, no need for buddha or other gods. Just Jesus God bless

For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak. John 12:49-50

A fellow Lutheran, we need to set an example for the rest of Christendom. And calling other sects heathens will not do that. I mean that with all due respect, Amen.✝️

@@akritoi3207 You might have been misleaded by the word „heathen“ - meaning not being a Christian. In this context I am not insulting different denominations- who am I to do so - I am driving at the point of being persecuted by other religious groups. It is our job as Christians, if we regard ourselves as Christians, to pray for the persecuted Christians in this world. There is no offence or harm meant at all :-)
