Got a ton of recs for this in my sci-fi video from yesterday. No idea how this one completely flew under my radar.

Terrific trilogy! Makes you want to get home before nightfall! This series goes far and long, but it pays off if you stick with it and remember characters, because some return after a long time off the page. No one has mentioned the Fox TV series, so I won’t.

I come from a community where I (unfortunately) do not come across that many readers. But when I do, this trilogy is one of the first things I recommend. I think Cronin's take on the vampire genre is the best and most horrific slant on the form. Lovely style, great characterisations and a cross-genre story to beat them all. I'll leave it at that because I could rant all day about this trilogy. Good review by the way.

Thanks! I agree it is an amazing take on the Vampire genre.

Just ordered a copy, you have convinced me. I actually liked the tv show.

Great review! I agree completely. I definitely got King vibes while I was reading it but I feel like Cronins prose is even better than Kings. I can’t wait to see what you think about City Of Mirrors. It has one of the best endings I’ve ever read in a dystopian saga. Very satisfying imo

I'm super into it right now. I'm just constantly having theories on where this will go but I'm so stumped. I'm definitely on edge trying to see where he is steering this ship.

Just finished the book today, and started on the second book. I've been pissed off at Amy all day. Can't believe she threw that shit in the fire. I put the book down and started cussing out loud after I read that part. 😠 Other than that, the book was great. Not in my top 5, but very good.

Great review! You definitely convinced me to read this book. My reading plan for tomorrow is finish The Orchard Keeper and start The Passage.

The orchard keeper is one of the McCarthy's i still need to read. I plan to read all the Cormac's I havent read before his two new novels.
@ChrisKessinger2 жыл бұрын
@@bookmeridian I’m trying to do the same. I am enjoying The Orchard Keeper a lot, but there have been a few parts that were a little slow for me. For a debut novel it is really good, in my opinion.

I just started reading it about a week ago. I’m at about page 125, and so far it’s very good. My last book was The Blade Itself, which was also very good.

Man how I wish that they would make this into a film trilogy. The show didn’t do it justice because it left out SO many important details and characters. As a fan of this novel I truly hope one day we can see this on the big screen the world definitely deserves to see this come to life.

I never watched the show. Is it even worth a watch?
@stephenishola62057 ай бұрын
Honestly no, The characters have no backstory which is heavily highlighted in the book, the virals don’t look anything like how they are described in the novels. The show was extremely rushed so it was no surprise that it didn’t get renewed for a second season. I truly hope that this novel can get another shot but this time being an actual movie trilogy. Each character has so much depth that it’ll make an amazing movie not to mention the storyline if it’s done correctly I would love for Guillermo del Toro or Gray Ross as the directors I would trust to actually show homage to the novels.

It's an amazing read. I had to LOL when they get humvees running though. Not one drop of gas they find would be usable after a couple years, let alone 90 something years after the vampire apocalypse.

I know gasoline expires after like 1 year. Diesel might be different though.

The Passage - Great The Twelve - Great City of Mirrors - Average. Cronin ran out of ideas and just slapped it together. Plus, who saved Theo and Mous from her zombie ex-husband in the barn?

They kinda talk about it in the third book don't wanna spoil anything but the reason is kinda meh
